Cruise NH Posted December 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Hi, I'd like to know what the immigration procedure is upon arrival by ship in Sydney. Is it done on board like when we come into Southampton or is it on shore and more like what I see in Brooklyn for other nationalities? I'm trying to determine how quickly we can get off the ship for touring. We'll be in Sydney for two nights. Thanks! Oops...I just realized our first stop is in Australia is Brisbane not Sydney. Same question though, what is the procedure, hopefully it would not have to be repeated in Sydney. Edited December 21, 2013 by Cruise NH
Pushka Posted December 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2013 I don't know the Immigration procedure in Brisbane but in each Australian port you visit you will most likely be required to line up for quarantine inspections. This is done by the beagles. Just to make sure you aren't bringing in food items.
Whitemarsh Posted December 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2013 You will go through immigration on the ship, they'll have immigration officers on board who would have embarked at the last port before Australia. Generally there is one day in which everyone goes down to the Britannia restaurant to get their passport stamped etc. Or it could be over two days, I can't remember exactly. Once you're off the ship you go through quarantine where there will most likely be sniffer dogs. Don't waste your time by trying to sneak food ashore, they'll catch you and send you to the watch house.
