VISA in the Caribbean

Well, bags are packed and ready for the quick drive to Galveston in the morning. I'm trying to figure how much actual cash I will need. I know on the ship everything will be on sign/sail card (except casino, correct?) We want to rent some wave runners in Cayman. Will they accept Visa or should we have enough cash on hand to pay for them? Thanks again for all the help!!

Casino takes cash only. You can get cash from your on board account at the casino for a 5% fee. If you are booking a ship excursion for the wave runners, then that will also be charged to your on board account. Otherwise you would need to contact the wave runner rental business to find out what forms of payment they take, other than cash.

Just an FYI....we used our Royal Caribbean Visa in Cayman (jewelry store) and had a foreign transaction fee added to the account....

Yes, the islands (except PR) are considered international. Therefore, if your credit card charges international fees you will be charged. Frequent travelers should always carry a card that does not charge fees.

be sure to call your credit card and let them know where you will be every day with your card. That way if charges start showing up after you leave that port they will know its not you.

Also if you decide to make a purchase it won't be denied.....
