herbanrenewal Posted December 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2013 If your cruise stays in the original port over night is the muster drill on the first day when you stay in port, or the second day when you actually sail away?
fishycomics Posted December 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2013 2 hours prior ships departure First day only. If ship leaves at 5PM its 3PM the List gets to the staff and checked off to proper channels.

If ship leaves at 5PM its 3PM So its on the day of departure - not the First day if you are staying in the same port overnight? Our cruise originates in Buenos Aires on January 5th but leaves port at 5pm January 6th, so the muster drill will be at 3pm on the 6th?

Since HAL now follows a no-mercy rule (you miss the drill...you do not cruise) they will wait as long as possible (before sailing) in order to make sure that everyone is aboard. On an overnight situation there are often some folks who do not arrive until the day of sailing (they can be delayed by airlines or even made special arrangements to come in a day later). The new guidelines/regulations require that the drill be held before you leave the dock. Hank
fishycomics Posted December 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) My information is of a new cruise, if anyone who has entered a cruise during will have a better answer, as this was not said at the start of the post: If you enter during a cruise, I would hope they fill you in, as a mandatory requirement. ;) I hate to be the last person standing Edited December 27, 2013 by fishycomics

Actually, the muster drill is usually scheduled 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure. I'm sure they will advise the time once you are on board on the 5th. Just check your "Celebrity Today". Enjoy your floating hotel on your first night in Buenos Aires! :)

bigbenboys Posted December 28, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 28, 2013 The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requires that a muster drill must be conducted by the ship within 24 hours of departure, but many Cruise ships actually conduct the drill before the ship departs for the first time.
