cl.klink Posted December 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Hello, I just posted my lastest review of our crossing. I know when I read someone's review I always want more. So, if anyone has specific questions I am happy to oblige. Dawn Nice review. Makes me reassured. Our first TA, and first time doing Aqua. Is Blu better on a Equinox than other ships? I'm trying to reassure DW that it'll be nice. She liked the feel of MDR. Also, the wine steward you mentioned; where does that person serve? We plan to fly into Barcelona a day or two early. What should we do with our time? - Joel

For restaurants go to ATN, which was located close to a Roman excavation of tombs just off Las Ramblas on Canuda Street. For a small tapas restaurant near the Plaza Sant Just on Palma De Sant Just. That restaurant, Bodega LaPalma, was not modern like ATN, but small and rustic. The tapas were excellent, with large servings for very reasonable prices. I highly recommend both restaurants. Had only 2 days but saw a lot of Barcelona Loved it!

What should we do with our time? - Joel We spent 2.5 days pre-cruise in October for our 12 day Equinox cruise. If you plan to go to the Sagrada Familia, please go on-line and order your tickets. If you do not you will stand in line for up to 3 hours, with the advance tickets, you just walk right in bypassing all the people in line. We enjoyed taking the train up to Montserrat to view the beautiful mountains and the monastery. It was easy to navigate the subway and train systems for us and we live in a very small rural area. Lots to do and see in Barcelona and we would go again..

What should we do with our time? - Joel Thank you. I have heard that Blu is best on the Solstice class ships. Maggie began in Blu on our 12 night Barcelona then switched to the MDR on the Transatlantic. Blu is wonderful - a bit more quiet, the food portions are spot on and just a bit more flavorful (my opinion). If you have never been to Barcelona, the HO/HO bus is a good way to begin. Enjoy, Dawn
4774Papa Posted December 30, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2013 The Ho/Ho may be good, but we found the METRO to be easy to use. We did Monserrat on our own as well, but did use Barcelona Day Tours for a half day city tour. It was excellent.
north29 Posted December 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 30, 2013 One of our favorite cities, a week is not enough to do everything just in the city, not counting a train ride to Tarragona or a trip up north to the The Pyrenees. We have spent more than a week there a couple of times. If you are able to walk you can walk many places easily some might need a cab or the metro. I have not done this, and it came from the RC board. It is a food tour which I would love to do. Here is a link to it http://thebarcelonataste.com If time permits do a Flamenco show as well, we did one on Las Ramblas toward the port/water area, it was a dinner show, but might try another next time. Lots of good ideas above. REPEAT watch out for pick pockets.
