What is this WAVE thing?

Wave Season is when most people book their summer cruises (the term refers to a "wave" of bookings for the cruise lines). It's also the time of year when cruise fares increase at a much faster rate as inventory is quickly depleted. "Wave" was a term used internally by cruise lines to refer to their most profitable time of the year, but as this term was leaked out to the general public, they are now trying to twist it to refer to a (non-existent) sale.

This is NOT a time when people normally benefit from any sales or discounts, even if the cruise lines make it sound like it is. In fact most people booking their summer cruise during wave season will be paying a higher fare than those booking right now before wave begins.

If you're planning a summer cruise, book NOW or keep your fingers crossed for a last minute sale if booking goals aren't met.

They call it a sale but sometimes the prices are good and sometimes not so good.

Buyer beware

This doesn't answer the question

Tapi has it, thanks Tapi for answering the question. Good information.

I was actually wondering about this term. Thanks for the explanation, Tapi!

Will say Tapi had a better answer than mine but my info on it not being much of a sale is correct.

Wondering why you needed to do this post though.
