Medtech2 Posted January 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2014 Anyone know if the Breakaway spa offers acupuncture and if so what are the prices. I know they offer it and it was a few hundred dollars at least. We looked into it as my DH benefits from acupuncture but the doctor was pushing a "package" and not a one time treatment and he decided to pass. On the Epic he was in so much pain that he got it and it was around $220 at that time in 2010. On BA I want to say north of $600 for the package she was pushing... Kamloops50 Posted January 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2014 Anyone know if the Breakaway spa offers acupuncture and if so what are the prices. On board the treatments highly overpriced and qualifications are sometime questionable.
Breakaway11032013 Posted January 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2014 According to the spa price guide from a Nov 2013 Breakaway sailing a session is $150 - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8W5aN30hmSqaWUtSFJnRjRTeVE/edit?usp=sharing As for experience I think NCL contracts through Steiner which requires all their treatment specialists to have NCCAOM certification. - http://acupuncturejobsatsea.com/
markf Posted January 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2014 Be very careful doing these treatments on board--theyare pricey and you should be very concerned about who is doing treatment and side effects that could negatively effect your cruise. mikaula Posted January 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2014 My sister won an acupuncture session on the Star a few years back. She loved it!! She now goes to one on land too.
Kamloops50 Posted January 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2014 I personally don't believe that acupuncture can do all it s ways it can. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Forums mobile app
Medtech2 Posted January 5, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2014 I personally don't believe that acupuncture can do all it s ways it can. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Forums mobile app It depends on the type of problem. My DS had "dry socket" from a wisdom tooth extraction years ago that was so painful no drug could touch it. When he threw a lamp across the livingroom we knew it was bad. One acupuncture treatment and the pain was gone. DH gets treated for his knees and it works there but not his hip. Did nothing for my own knee pain...
garycarla Posted January 5, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2014 After watching two family members use this, I am a believer. These are people that I would consider "normal" in that they are not medical worry types, problems, etc. As to doing this at sea, I just do not see why anyone would pick a cruise to try it.
