Carnival Freedom 3.0 upgrades?

My guess is that she is probably getting 2.0 plus the Suess at Sea thing.

 

They've said as much already. Freedom is supposed to be the first ship with the full suess-land suite or whatever it's called. Maybe this is the extra 1.0. If so, there's nothing more to announce.;)

Any additional upgrades over the existing 2.0 format will likely focus on renovating under-utilized lounges. There are a lot of random lounges on a Conquest class ship that are non-existent on Dream class ships or the Sunshine. There's not much point in having a cigar bar if smoking isn't allowed, or a separate jazz lounge if there is no jazz band, and new ships have completely done away with the art gallery and the card lounge.

 

Opportunities for redevelopment:

Art Gallery (3 fwd)

Card Room (3 fwd)

Conference Room (4 mid)

Habana Cigar Bar (4 mid)

Internet Cafe (4 mid)

Swingtime Bar (5 aft)

 

In addition to these, the teen clubs and arcade are in prime real estate on the Promenade deck and could be relocated. While these are on newer ships, Carnival has made it a habit of locating Club O2 farther away from the "adult" areas of ships placing it on deck 4 of Dream class and at the top of the Sunshine. I wouldn't count them as prime targets for redevelopment, but they could be on the radar.

 

The biggest question as to any interior renovations will be whether or not they relocate the night club and build an Ocean Plaza/ Redfrog Pub on deck 5 to re-create what they did on Sunshine. Constructing an Ocean Plaza would negate the need for the large cigar bar and jazz lounge as it serves as both a bandstand and karaoke bar during the evenings. However, it would require the relocation of the night club. That's a pretty big tradeoff, and I have no idea how much relocating the night club would cost.

 

Of those areas that I listed, one is going to become the Dr. Seuss room, but then again, none of those are anywhere near Camp Carnival. So it might not make sense to put the Dr. Seuss room 7 decks down from the kids Camp.

 

On the top decks, a prime area for renovation is the sports deck. Right now the skylight over the aft buffet. That can go from dead space to heavily utilized by constructing a basketball court over it. The Freedom could have a similar sportsquare to the Magic or Breeze; this change wouldn't require any new load-bearing structures or plumbing.

 

While everything that I've written is speculation, it should be obvious that the larger trends in Carnival design evolution are moving toward minimizing under-utilized spaces through new, branded spaces.

My guess would be this would also expand the Casino. Doubt if they would have time to do the Lido deck aft changes like on the Sunshine but it would be nice to see JiJi's added to other ships as it was really good. Guess only time will tell what they are really going to do.........;)

I reckon it amounts to a big Plus for those lucky Carnival ships without art galleries!

If they go ahead and do the Promenade changes, I would speculate that the current Cigar Bar turns into the night club and the Havana Bar. That way you would have dueling night clubs at night; one with a Latin theme, and the other would be the traditional night club. You'd probably want to put some other space in there so that it drives traffic during the day otherwise there isn't much point to the Havana bar breakfast and lunch food.

 

My reasoning behind this is that 2 weeks is way to short to tear down the main theatre and make a liquid lounge like on Sunshine. Furthermore, the night club would then be between two public decks-- you wouldn't have complaints about loud noises coming from the club into people's rooms at night.

Put them both on Deck 4

..sandwiched between Deck 3 where there's never any cabins

and Promenade Deck 5 where there's never/rarely any cabins.

 

That where all the noisy stuff shoulda been, in the first place!

- between two non-accommodation decks!

3.0 puts everything back to pre 2.0 status. GREAT shows, excellent food, and tablecloths in the dining room. ;)

Add back guys burgers and that would be awesome. Think the food is still good but entertainment has sure gone downhill

I emailed my PVP last night and asked her if Freedom is getting 3.0 upgrades. She replied to me that Carnival doesn't have 3.0 upgrades, but that Freedom will receive 2.0 upgrades.

Do you really believe a PVP would seriously tell you something like this, then supposedly will get back to you with details? Their job is to book cruises.
