Be Happy!!

There is no pre-written or determined standard for a vacation so I really don't think you should be putting down someone because they like that they don't have to do the work of cooking/cleaning on a cruise. Everyone has their own idea of what they want to get out of a vacation.

I could care less about those "entertainment" things around the pool like the hairy chest contest, etc. but I am sure there are some that enjoy it. I don't really drink so the bars do nothing for me and I have never spent a dime in the casino or at bingo or on specialty dining. I actually like being able to walk away from the table and leave the dirty dishes behind and the bed unmade when I leave the cabin in the morning. I really enjoy the peace and quiet of sitting on my balcony and am looking forward to trying all of the different rooms in the Spa on the Dream and really having time for myself to relax.

Someone already posted that they think the waiters not handing you the menu is a downgrade in service. I really don't mind picking up the menu from the table. I may get more time to choose that way. I could also care less if there is a tablecloth on the table. My expectations for MY cruise probably don't match up with anyone else's but that doesn't bother me because I am the only one that has to be happy with them.

I'm with you 100%. If something doesn't meet your expectations, then find the line that does rather than placing your expectations on everyone else. Some people (like me) are happy with the little things because I like being happy. That doesn't mean I think others should be so easily pleased.

Nexst month we will experience this for ourselves.

If we like it and think the entertainment is good we come back and continue headingtoward diamond.

If not there are other choices out there for us to spend our vacation dollars on.

There was mention of a "family style" pie served for the entire table but I think that was listed as an option in addition to the other desserts for the night. To me that really isn't going to be popular. How many larger families all pick the same dessert each night?

Possibly on the night that only one dessert is offered.

Add me to the 'totally agree' group. Great post! :)

I don't care to hear Disney songs sung well (or not) anywhere and the lack of tablecloths means nothing to me too.

My concern is portion size and number of course. I'm already up to two entrees. I'd hate to think I have to up that to three.

When I think of portion size I think of the many restaurants that My Husband and I have gone to the past year. They all have cut the size down and costs us more. At least on the cruise you can order more then one item and not pay extra.

Last week when we went out I thought of the commercial "Where's the beef".

They may have changed allot of things that we are use to but they will never change my memories.

The only problem with the: "if you don't like it, go where you'll be happy" plan, is the fact that if we had been given this information before we booked Carnival, we mostly likely would have done exactly as you recommend and gone elsewhere. People who pay for one product and and find they'll be receiving something less, when there is no longer a chance to "go elsewhere", they have a right to feel disappointed.

Besides, if we don't express our disappointment how will Carnival ever know that the cheapening of their product is the reason we will book with another company next time. How will they know to stop ruining their company if we don't give them some feedback.

I haven't been on my first cruise yet, so my opinion won't matter. I just don't get all the strum and drag on this board, about any changes. I may hate the whole cruising experience who knows? I can tell you this much, after losing 4 immediate family members in 7 months, I realize life is to short to piss and moan all the time.

If you don't like something, change it! For the love of Og there are tons of cruise lines, find one that suits you and go for it! If you want Carnival to know how unhappy you are email them, call them, something. Make sure they know your unhappiness. Just don't piss on everyone else' parade.
...there are more to cruises than that though... that's a really low standard to set for a vacation...
I spent 30 years giving everything i had raising four children which by the way are terrific loving adults. Their dad walked away when the youngest was 15. With the support of my other children we got through it. So I do not consider it a "low standard" to enjoy everthing done for me for a change. Maybe you should not be so quick to pass judgement when you don't know any information about the poster.
I'm ok with new menus, they looked good to me. What worries me is the family style serving everyone out of the same bowl or something. (Sounds GROSS) And the limits for choices makes it hard for people with food sensitivities....(automatically bringing a cake or something for dessert, one choice for everyone)
Haven't you EVER eaten on Lido? EVERYTHING there is served out of "community" dishes. Some people even grab with their hands!

Good grief, I don't get how food scooped out of the same dish is so bothersome.
OMG, I'm learning a lot in this thread, and I don't like any of it.

Do I understand this correctly? They don't give you a choice of dessert anymore? They just bring you a predetermined single choice ? Really? I'm finding this difficult to believe.
On one of the Festive, formally known as Cruise Elegant nights, there is one dessert listed on the menu, but warm chocolate melting cake is available, along with a fruit bowl. You just have to ask your wait staff.

Btw, since you will having the new menus on your Liberty cruise, please come back and let us know how you like the dishes. Enjoy your cruise.
OP, I know we are in the minority but I completely agree with you. I am in no way going to let the removal of tablecloths or a change in menu ruin my vacation. I am grateful my family & I can afford a vacation, let alone a cruise going to several ports where most of the residents do not get our experience. So I will go with the flow and if I find the experience not acceptable, we'll try a different line for our next vacation. Life is too short and negativity will not play a major role in my life, JMO.

Happy Sailing!!!!

I hope we get to meet on the cruise....you have the attitude I like to be around. Maybe we should try to get a meet and greet going on our roll call.
In 10 days I will be on a ship bound for Half Moon Cay. They can serve me a cheese sandwich set on a cardboard box and I'll be happy. :p
That's my ship and itinerary, but I still have to wait 79 days. :(
Come back and tell us what you think....will you have the new menus?
Wishing you good weather. Edited by 2 cruzen
