Does anyone recommend a hotel near the Fort Lauderdale port for RCI Oasis? This is our first time cruising and we are going to stay in the area the night before the cruise just as precautionary measure. Don't want to chance missing the cruise!! :)

Port Everglades is a huge commercial port covering a large area. Depending on how many ships there are in port and at which berth they are located it's definitely better to use a cab to get to the port. If you decide to stay overnight at any hotel located on 17th street the cab fare will be very inexpensive.

Thank you! We were looking at the holiday inn express on st road 84. It was $100 for the night. Not too bad. Does anyone recommend a particular website to get airfare? I've been on cheap air.com and it's def not cheap! Haha

We have stayed at both Embassy and the Holiday Inn. While Embassy had some nice perks, we weren't really pleased with the staff and the price. Holiday Inn is just as close to restaurants, shopping, (Walgreen's is just down at the corner for last minute items) and the free breakfast wasn't bad. Staff was very good and accomodating.

Although you are close to the port, you really are not. It's a long walk from 17th St to the actual port entrance. Either hotels can arrange a shuttle or taxi at a reasonable rate and you are dropped off right at the terminal.

We have stayed at the Embassy Suites many times both pre and post cruise.

It is handy to the Harbor Shops where there is a Publix for anything you may have forgotten, stores and restaurants.

We always take a taxi to the ship. It usually runs around $10 plus tip.

Even though the Oasis is at pier 18, it may look like a short walk -- but it isn't.

I use Yapta to track air fares for when we are going. It will give you a list of most available flights for your time. It does not track Southwest.

Most airlines you have to factor the cost of the luggage too.

Try kayak.com and the individual airline sites

Also check the cost of flying into West Palm Beach or Miami. But if you flight into one of those airports, consider the added cost of taxi to/from the port, and additional travel time needed.
