Carnival Changes: How to React

Granted I've only cruised 4 lines so far but I've noticed very little difference between Princess, RCCL & Carnival on our 7 night Caribbean cruises. I do notice a difference in Carnival's 4 & 5 night cruises and a very big difference in our one Holland America Alaskan cruise.

The shorter cruises seem to have a younger, less formal and more late night crowd. As for the Holland America cruise I don't know if it was the cruise line or the fact that it was an Alaskan cruise but the decks were empty shortly after late seating.

When was the last time you were on Carnival? If it's been recently did you find the entertainment as good as other lines? Also did the last CCL ship you sailed have playlist 2.0?

We just sailed the Triumph in September and loved the 2.0 upgrades that we tried. We used and loved the Taste Bar before dinner, The Blue Iguana Burrito Bar for breakfast, Lunch at Guy's, the Martini tasting at the Alchemy Bar, the EA Sports Bar and drinks from the Red Frog Rum Bar while catching movies at the Seaside Theater on nice evenings.

My DW and I also caught all the Punchliner family and adult comedy shows. Those seem to be only as good as the performers. We enjoyed some and some were just OK. We enjoyed the magic show in the main show lounge but most of the other offerings in the main showroom hadn't changed from our last cruise on the Magic so we hit the casino or a bar.

All in all, the entertainment is on par with the other lines we've sailed in the past 5 years.

. Thanks for the reply. Is that a yes or no to playlist productions?

I agree, 2.0 upgrades are very good in the food area.:)

That's a matter of taste. DW likes them but they're usually not my cup of tea on any of the lines. I just go because I've been told that I'm going. I'd rather stay in the casino.

I gather you dont like any shows but from the sound of it, doesn't sound like they had the playlist since they only gave the playlist shows on certain Carnival ships and they have been mostly reviewed by past passengers as pretty bad.

Carnival has said that there is an announcement coming about the entertainment so hopefully that's a good thing.

You noticed very little difference between RCL, Carnival and Princess? Wow I see a huge difference even if just in the decor of the ships. Add to that the level of entertainment on RCL and Princess vs. Carnival. I guess it's all in the eyes of the beholder.

Great video! The Tropicale sure looked big back then. What struck me the most was at the end of the commercial it had a banner 3 nights from $325! I think this as was from 1985. I've taken 7 days for not much more than that per person in the past few years.

Back then that $325 include free air

We've sailed on many lines, always come back to Carnival, have never had a problem with them. I usually pick our cruise by the itinerary so therefore we go on different lines every year or so. I loved those old commercials with Kathy Lee. Cruising is what you make of it, if you're picky enough you could find fault with any ship but it's so much more fun to just relax and enjoy life.

If so, what would they charge if you drove to the port? Strange advertising, especially not even disclosing that benefit. Today a 3 day cruise starting at $150 sounds much better than $500 (air included). Still, that's 2/3 the price when you consider inflation.
