NanaP1398 Posted January 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Has any smoker cruised on Serenade of the Seas out of New Orleans since RC implemented the new no smoking on a balcony rule? Yes, I'm a smoker and booked my cruise a year ago. If this rule had been in effect then, I wouldn't have booked it. Just wondering where I have to go if I want to smoke? Casino, and one side of the outdoor decks.

Clarea Posted January 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) Thanks, that's my understanding but I was wondering which decks I have to go to. Deck 11, Deck 12, and they may also have smoking on the outside promenade on Deck 5. Edited January 11, 2014 by clarea
NanaP1398 Posted January 11, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Thanks, that's my understanding but I was wondering which decks I have to go to. Thank you! I am disappointed that I have to walk so far to enjoy morning coffee and a smoke. I've always been a polite smoker on my balcony. I never light up if any neighbor was enjoying their balcony and never, ever throw anything overboard! This group trip was all booked and most of it paid for by the time RCL announced their new policy. This will be a bitter sweet cruise as it will be our last with RCL. It's too bad that they can't have a back section of the ship as smoking balcony rooms. :(

NanaP1398 Posted January 11, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Yes, I realize that. Perhaps I will fly and stay on some of the islands that I've been introduced to by cruising! Or maybe some day I'll quit smoking and it will be a non-issue for me...
lady_cruiser Posted January 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Don't give up on cruising. Next time you can book cabin on Deck 10 and then in the morning walk up to Deck 11 to get your coffee and have a cigarette in the open designated area. You don't even have to walk all the way into Wind Jammer. They is coffee available in the outdoor/glass enclosed seating area to the right of the Jammer. NanaP1398 Posted January 12, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks Rosie. We're on Deck 9 towards the front on the port side so I am hoping it's not too far away! The one concern I have is if it's the wee hours of the morning, I don't want to be wandering the ship alone. We will see! Glad to hear there is a coffee setup there though. Is the ladies room close by too?

NanaP1398 Posted January 12, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks Bob. Looks like I need to study the Deck Plans and become familiar with the ship layout before I board.

Is the ladies room close by too? On Serenade, the Windjammer is in the back of the ship. Just did a Christmas Bahamas cruise on her and was surprised to find the Windjammer in the back. I was always turned around since I'm used to it being in the front of the ship! ;)

In my experience (Voyager, Adventure, Freedom) the spa is forward and WJ is aft. Edited to say I looked at your cruises in your signature and see you have sailed on Vision class. I guess the WJ is forward. I think I would be lost if I sailed and the WJ was forward! I would be wandering around and never get my bearings. stones902 Posted January 12, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Deck 11, Deck 12, and they may also have smoking on the outside promenade on Deck 5. Thanks for this information. Do you know if they designate a particular outdoor bar in the evening for cigar smokers (i.e. The Sky Bar)? It's nice to enjoy a cigar and snifter of tequila with others. I always enjoyed the late night cigar lounge on board. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

While I am against smoking, my father died of emphysema at the age of 57, I know how hard it is for a smoker to go with their cigarettes.
