Joie Posted January 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2014 I know there are not many places to have a beach day in key west but can anyone recommend a stop to get off the hop-on and off trolley to stop with kids so they can play in the water for awhile? have heard of Smathers beach....is that close enough? bhopal21 Posted January 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Stop #4 on City View Trolley is Higgs Beach and would be a good place for the kids to play for a while. Mike:)

Higgs Beach might be your best option. There are 2 piers you can walk out and a playground for the kids. The West Martello museum is there, and Salute, a restaurant, is right there on the beach. Salute opens at 11:30.

Dante's opens at 11:00 a.m. If you had something else to do or see first you could go there at that time and let the kids play in the pool (it's very shallow) and you can have lunch. You could probably makre it back to the ship when you hear the warning blast from Dante's http://danteskeywest.com/ Pjk
