beach day ?

I know there are not many places to have a beach day in key west but can anyone recommend a stop to get off the hop-on and off trolley to stop with kids so they can play in the water for awhile? have heard of Smathers beach....is that close enough?

Stop #4 on City View Trolley is Higgs Beach and would be a good place for the kids to play for a while.

Higgs Beach might be your best option. There are 2 piers you can walk out and a playground for the kids. The West Martello museum is there, and Salute, a restaurant, is right there on the beach. Salute opens at 11:30.

just looked at City View website....they don't start till 9:30 am....we arrive at 7:30 and are only there till 1:30 which means we will have to be back on board by 1:00.....sure hope we will have enough time to catch a couple hours at the beach for them.

Dante's opens at 11:00 a.m. If you had something else to do or see first you could go there at that time and let the kids play in the pool (it's very shallow) and you can have lunch. You could probably makre it back to the ship when you hear the warning blast from Dante's

thought about renting one of the 4 seater little carts to run around town. Hope I can find out more info on these.....sounds like fun.
