ValerieJo Posted January 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Hi all. We rarely book excursions through the ship, but on the occasion we have we do them in advance. However, I have some OBC I'd like to use towards an excursion on an upcoming cruise. I am assuming I will not be able to do this until we board the ship. Has anyone done this? What are the chances the excursion will be sold out by the time we board? I'm guessing the procedure would be to head straight to the explorations desk as soon as we board? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

So if you have not prepaid tips, those could consume your OBC. If you wait to book the excursion on board, then it's best to get in line as soon as Explorations opens. My experience is that they are not open at boarding time, but something like 2 or 3pm.
DonnaK Posted January 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2014 I agree with Bob. We usually use OBC to cover our tips (because we do not prepay them). However, you certainly can book excursions onboard. With the exception of the most popular ones (cabanas on Labadee, for example), they are unlikely to be totally sold out. Your best bet is to book it as soon as you board, or if you are on a ship that allows you to book excursions through your cabin TV, then do that right away. ValerieJo Posted January 14, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Thanks for the quick responses. They were very helpful. Since we do MTD, our tips are pre-paid. I guess my plan will be to head to the Explorations desk as soon as they open once we board :) Thanks again.
