krisko Posted January 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2014 I have a $200 AMEX gift card. Can I charge $200 to my on board account on the first day or would I charge $200 on the last night?
racnwdow Posted January 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Better double check. I was told that you can not use gift cards on the ship. I had asked about the MC/Visa type. Call RCI and ask. Don't get stuck on board not being able to use it.
Clarea Posted January 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) I have a $200 AMEX gift card. Can I charge $200 to my on board account on the first day or would I charge $200 on the last night? One thing you can try before the cruise is call Royal and add the $200 to your onboard account. The number to call is 800-722-5443, and I believe the code is #651. Might save you some time on board. Edited January 14, 2014 by clarea

cb at sea Posted January 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Is there any way to cash out the card and take cash? Cash is never refused!!
JasonV1 Posted January 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) I had one of these as well; I used it at http://www.royalcaribbeancertificates.com/ to buy gift certificates (for OBC), and then applied them online using the link in the cert. Yes, that site is run/owned by royal and can also be reached at: royalcaribbean.com/giftcertificates Handy if you don't feel like dealing with people over the phone. TheCalicoCat Posted January 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Prior to our cruise, my husband used a regular CC to add OBC's to our account. I would think that you could do the same thing with an AMEX Gift Card.

Clarea Posted January 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Thanks for asking about this..We too were giving a 225$ visa gift card to buy the wine package and I was trying to figure out how to do that.,, so I use the visa GC to buy a Royal GC and then us the GC from Royal to add OBC to use to buy the wine package?? Easiest: Use the Visa GC on Royal's web site to purchase the Wine & Dine package before the cruise. If that does not work, then use the Visa GC to purchase OBC by calling Royal at 800-722-5443. Then buy the Wine & Dine package once you get on board. Edited January 14, 2014 by clarea
