maja651 Posted February 8, 2014 #51 Share Posted February 8, 2014 I guess some of you were at the port at the wrong time and missed the free mini massage in the Suite check in lounge along with wine and grapes being handed to you. I passed on the teeth whitening because we did not have time and wanted to get on board ASAP. Ha ha ha! Wouldn't THAT be nice! You're a dreamer David, but I like her dreams!:D
maja651 Posted February 8, 2014 #52 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Now after reading more posts, going out to 100% agree with Michelle. She and I have seen the left side of security checkin VIP. Yippee! I'm not crazy! Glad someone can confirm it! :p
maja651 Posted February 8, 2014 #53 Share Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Same exact set up in NYC port. As I was reading what you wrote I was picturing the NYC port. It's like you were peaking into the room lol:p Too funny. The LA port was different. Although they had a suite room to wait in after you checked in, you had to check in at the normal counters. Less wait due to a VIP line, but no sitting down for the check in in the suite lounge like in Miami. The security line was also a lot longer and no VIP security line in LA. We are holding you to it :) Will do, but you're going to have to wait until June. Breaking our April cruise tradition so my nephews can come. :) Edited February 8, 2014 by maja651
tarps14 Posted February 8, 2014 #56 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Sorry guys, no VIP security line on the January 11th Epic cruise. We got there about 11:00 and went thru security with everyone else. There were two scanners but neither was designated VIP. Could that have possibly changed as more passengers began to arrive? Maybe. We were on the ship enjoying lunch at the Haven by then. :D The VIP check in was simply a large office off to the side but it was still nice. We were then escorted to an area that was separated from the main waiting area by partitions. It was right next to the huge glass wall and all you see is ship! Quite impressive. They had coffee, juice, danishes, cookies and small tea sandwiches. We were there maybe 15 min before they began the initial boarding and we were the first group on. You are met right off the gangway and escorted directly to the Haven area. NCL does a fantastic job with the suite experience from the moment you arrive clear through the entire cruise. You are really in for a treat!

You are really in for a treat! Your experience has been my experience all 5 times boarding at the port of Miami. I suspect some think when the security line breaks in two (for each scanner) they believe it is a separate security line. The port controls the security. Those security officers do not work for NCL or any other cruise line. Why would they be concerned with dividing the passengers for VIP or suite? They are going to hire more guards and security screeners for NCL suite guests? I think not. The security line in Miami moves very quick. I don't think you could get faster priority security anyway. David, Five times boarding at the POM will not make any of us an expert. Have been cruising from POM for 36 yrs and I haven't seen everything.
