LVCruisingRabbit Posted January 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2014 I am going to book the 10 night Grand Princess Mexico sailing for 11/9/14 and am thinking of doing a ME Mini Suite on Emerald Deck(8)....but it is right above the Vista Lounge. Is this a bad idea? I am looking to save a few dollars.
Gunner22aa Posted January 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2014 We always book a Vista Suite on the aft of the ship. My preference is on Dolphin but our last trip on the Golden in Nov we were in E733 on the starboard side. Never heard any noise at all. Have the same suite booked for our next two trips on the Golden as well. Some people who have stayed in the mini suites on the port side of the ship have reported that they felt a little base vibration through the floor but nothing that was a show stopper. The stage in the Vista Lounge is on the port side of the ship and there are also speakers mounted to the ceiling there as well. You will be fine
sonnenschein Posted January 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2014 If at all available book the mini on E deck on the starboard side, you will get no noise at all from the vista below you. We have stayed in E 719 and are booked in E 723 for our march cruise. Crossing the Pacific to Hawaii we had no excessive movements from the ocean or noise from the music. We love the location, you are close to the rear elevator and easy to get to the Horizon ct. for breakfast.
LVCruisingRabbit Posted January 16, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks for the input. BTw I did the Hawaii Cruise from LA a few years ago. The first night was a bit cold..but Day Two it warmed up real quick. The sea was like bath water. I was hanging out by the pool enjoying the Sonnenschein all the way to Honolulu. Weather is always questionable...but it was a beautiful ride for me.
moosa Posted June 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2014 how are the obstructed window cabins on deck 8 (emerald)? any issues with noise from the life boats and noise from the elevators? thanks :)

Is this a bad idea? I am looking to save a few dollars.Great idea. IMHO, these are the best minis on the Grand-class ships but then I prefer aft to start with. The only cabins where you might hear some noise from the Vista a Lounge are the last 2-3 cabins on the port side. Even then, the shows end before 11pm. You might hear thrusters or some engine vibration but to me, these are the quietest and most private cabins and balconies. No one walks past other than people in the cabins near you, and the balcony is covered so you're protected from sun, wind and rain although you can get some sun depending on the time of day. caribill Posted June 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2014 how are the obstructed window cabins on deck 8 (emerald)? any issues with noise from the life boats and noise from the elevators? thanks :) Only time the life boats might be a problem if you are at a tender port and one of the tenders to be used is the one outside your cabin. Chances are you would be awake by then anyway preparing to go ashore. Elevators should not be a sound problem on any deck.
