Crusin Hogs Posted January 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Just back from the Dream , avoided Carnival last year because of the cut backs ,ect Gave them one more try , We were really surprised at the changes we saw . Very fast boarding ,at about 11:30 , went straight to cabin to drop off carry on's . Headed to buffet , This was the only day it was really crowded , People just sitting around after they had all ready ate. Mid 70's to 80 for sail away , Great sail away party , We did anytime dining , This was the worst part of the trip , Always a wait line ,one night line was all the way into the show lounge . Do it again we would do traditional dining. Music one word WOW ,it was great , On lido deck outside , Early morning shows like the Honey Mooners were shown , About 11-12 DJ ,Sir Charles , the best I have seen on Carnival played 50's 60's 70's Music , Jimmy Buffett , Zac Brown , Toby Keith { Red Solo Cup} ,Bob Marley , ect NO rap , techno , ect was heard , Later after DJ a guitar soloist played , Songs like Sweet Caroline , Brown Eyed Girl , A lot of sing along music .This was done everyday . Shows were all new to us They had a 7 piece band , ,Easy to get good seats. Bob in the piano bar was very good , His saying everybody yelled when someone new walked into piano bar was , HOLY SHIP !! Come on in !! We saw 4 different comedy acts , all very good , There was live music every night Deck 5 midship lanai area , Different them every night , Country , 50,60 , 70's , Madi Gras , ect Lot of fun . Live singers , guitar player in casino every night , Live singers in atrium every night , soft ,rock , easy listening ect. It seemed as if we went from one venue to another ,and stayed to listen ,and see each , They were all very good . Not many were seen in karoke bar , and They did not have enough people to fill the legends show parts , Carnival staff had to play 4 or 5 parts in that show. We tried a spa cabin this trip , 11th floor , only down side was we had a crying baby next door for a week , EVERY night he cried , . All in all this was a great cruise when compared to past Carnival cruise's We were off the Dream at 7:15 AM headed home .
geovet Posted January 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Sounds good. I wonder if they are going to increase the entertainment on other ships. Glad you had a great trip and thanks for your feed back.

seguetocaribe Posted January 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2014 thanks for the review... you said that there was a long wait for anytime dining, did you go around the same time each night or was it always crowded regardless of the time? The dining room opens at 5:45 , at that time you may be in the show lounge wating , We went down about 5:15 ,to get in line, It was always backed up
Crusin Hogs Posted January 19, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted January 19, 2014 We watched the Carnival Freedom leave St Martin , They still had the loud rap / hip hop type of music going on deck , While we were hearing Caribbean type music on Dream . This was our 7th cruise on Carnival, and best yet
sjcarter407 Posted January 19, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Thank you for taking the time to write this. I will be going on my very first cruise on June 8th and it is on the dream. carrieluvsgreg Posted January 19, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 19, 2014 We were on the dream last April, had anytime dining and always went early, but not before 5:30, we never waited to get in more than 5 minutes (after they started letting people in...) mondello Posted January 19, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 19, 2014 The dining room opens at 5:45 , at that time you may be in the show lounge wating , We went down about 5:15 ,to get in line, It was always backed up Why would anyone go get in line at 5:15 if they don't open until 5:45? Seems to me you should just opt for early assigned seating and get more consistent service.
SkyMaster Posted January 19, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 19, 2014 I too, appreciate your posts. I'll be "Dreaming" next week, and again on Feb 22nd, and I always LOVE all the shows, and music venues. So glad to hear that they're just as I remember them being last time I was aboard. Sounds like the BIGGEST improvement might be the DJ on Lido, and his selection of music. Sounds GREAT! I look forward to karaoke and the Legends Show. It'll be interesting to see how the participation is on my cruises. "SKY"

purplemusik Posted January 19, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Thanks for writing this! I'm on the dream on 2/8 and have a party of 9 going. I was going back and forth about anytime dining and set time and we decided on set time because we didn't want a wait with the kids ( I was " assured " by so many that there wouldn't be one - lol ) so I'm glad I made the right choice! With a group of 9, assigned dining should be the way to go. I myself have not tried anytime dining, but I have heard from people onboard that have had long waits with big groups. jamesr3939 Posted January 19, 2014 #18 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Nice review, leaving 1/25 have AT dining but probably won't go until around 7:00 so hope the line won't be an issue. Doing steak house one night and considering Chef's table another.
Niquein99 Posted January 19, 2014 #19 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Nice review! Can you tell me if they still have the Fun Force Dancers on the Dream? When we cruised the Dream in 2012, these guys were the highlight of the cruise! Are they still on the Dream? Did you go to any of the production shows? Is the show 'Dancing in the Streets' still featured? We're on the 9 - day Dream repositioning cruise in April and can't wait! Thanks for any info. gregg204 Posted January 19, 2014 #20 Share Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the review. Glad to see you enjoyed your trip we'll be on her out of New Orleans in June. As for any time dining we tried it on our last cruise and didn't care for it either. Back to late seating. I myself have not tried anytime dining, but I have heard from people onboard that have had long waits with big groups. Just an FYI We had a group of 13 on the Dream for the NYE cruise. From the time we got in line to being seated was never more than 15 minutes. Usually under 10 minutes. We got in line between 6 and 6:30 every evening. Beth Posted January 19, 2014 #23 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Loved the BlackJack band, they played such a variety of music. Food did not seem as good as previous cruises, but we did not go hungry. Love the BLT from room service.
golfadj Posted January 19, 2014 #24 Share Posted January 19, 2014 We were on the Dream last month and had a great time.. Piano bar guy with his wholly ship thing did wear thin after a while.
