Sea Pass with cash question

Recommended Posts

Ok, my sister was wondering about the sea pass accounts if she chose not to link a credit card. She was considering forgoing the alcoholic drink package because she doesn't think they will buy enough to justify the cost and instead put an amount of cash on their account so it is like the drinks are prepaid but they can choose how much. I know you have to settle up at the end of the cruise, are people at the desk really early the morning of disembarkation to pay final charges or how does it work? Does anyone have experience with going this route? If you for some reason spent less than you put on it will they give some back?

When you specify a cash account, you don't have to put any money down. Royal will let you charge up to $500 before they ask you to pay the account down. Guest Services is open 24 hours, so you can settle the account anytime you like.

We put cash on the card. You don't have to the cash on it right away, but we like to put money down right away. Usually shortly after we board we do it to get it out of the way. You can check your balance/charges on your tv in your stateroom to keep an eye on it. On our last cruise we had a few bucks left and just went to customer service the last night and got the balance back.
