Port of Miami rental car post-cruise

Hello!

 

We are looking to rent a car post-cruise for less than a day (basically to sight see a little and get us to FLL for a 4:00ish flight).

 

Is there a car rental company located AT THE Port of Miami? If so, which one?

 

Any other ideas for an easy way to make this plan work?

No car rental at POM: Hertz in Downtown Miami used to offer free POM shuttles while others (Avis, etc.) in downtown are only a short $12cab ride from the port.

 

National, Alamo and Thrifty offer free shuttles from POM to their MIA airport location -- you will need to show a print out of your reservation to the driver.

There are no rental car companies directly located at the Port Of Miami. Avis, Hertz, and Budget have downtown locations that are very close to the port. I am unsure if any of those three companies provide free shuttle service to their locations. I have read recently that Hertz at one time did have free shuttle service that was discontinued. If you rent a vehicle from either Alamo, National, Dollar, or Thifty they provide free shuttle service to the Rental Car Center which is located directly across from Miami International Airport. The shuttles circle the Port Of Miami and all you have to do is to flag down the driver to pick you up. Some drivers will ask to see your rental reservation before they allow you to board the shuttle. That is done because some cheapskates are looking for free transportation back to Miami International Airport. I usually rent a vehicle pre or post cruise because I have a condo in Hallandale Beach and the Rental Car Center is very convenient for myself and my family.
