However, if you pack large sized containers in your checked luggage, your bags may get flagged after the xray, and you will have to go get them yourself later that day on board. (they are checking for alcohol).

I always take full sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hairspray etc.. and it's never held up my luggage~ even the luggage with RR in them~ ;)

The ship is only scanning for obviously dangerous items such as weapons, items that might be a fire hazard, and of course alcohol. The ship restrictions are nothing at all like that of an airport TSA set of restrictions.

thanks for asking this, since we plan to buy a lot of this stuff at a KMart when we arrive in Honolulu rather than jam our luggage here at this end.

The airlines only have limited in CARRYON baggage. You can put all the stuff you want in the checked luggage - keeping weight limits in mind.

 

Going on the ship, no limits. I think it is very, very rare that people get called to visit the booze police because of shampoo bottles. If you are concerned and have a carryon, you can take all you want in the carryon when you board.

 

Again, very rare that somebody has reported this issue.

 

As to the buying stuff in Hawaii... keep in mind that everything is more expensive there.
