winste Posted January 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2014 I'm considering renting a car in Vancouver and taking a flight out of Seattle. I've searched but can't find recent border crossing updates. I figure I can be leaving downtown Vancouver by 9am. Would a 250pm flight be pushing it? Looks like most posts say it can take up to 4 hours with border crossing. That should put me at the airport by 1. It will be on Sat. July 19. Is that a reasonable assumption? lamchops Posted January 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) get to the border at 10am 2 hour wait (noon) could be more on a summer Saturday unless the Cdn $ continues to tank (usually 2-3 hrs on a summer weekend from 10-noon) 2 hour drive from border to SeaTac (2-3pm) NOPE, don't do it! Rare Gardyloo Posted January 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2014 You won't get out of Vancouver by 9, and transiting the Seattle area on a Saturday afternoon in July will be slow going, then returning the car at SEA will take another 30+ min. counting the shuttle from the rental car garage to the terminal. As it's also a cruise day in Seattle, the lines at the airport security will be very long. It really doesn't work.
mapleleaves Posted January 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2014 self disembark and be at the car lot for an 8am appt. That would give me enough cushion to feel comfortable.
winste Posted January 31, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Thanks for the opinions. Not worth the savings to risk it. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
