looking back to your favourite parts ....

Sat talking cruise ships with a friend the other day and he was telling me about his past cruises with lines like P&O, Azamara

among others .

I commented that he had a fair few under his belt now and his reply was

"Yes but the best cruise meal I ever had was on the Thomson Destiny ,

some would knock her but that meal the staff and the showteam are without

doubt the best I have had up to date ."

Which got me thinking what are my best parts ....:)

BREAKFAST.... Thomson Majesty Four Seasons part waiter /self serve .(Very relaxed at a pace that suits us )

LUNCH ............ Thomson Majesty Four Seasons part waiter /self serve(Very relaxed at a pace that suits us )

DINNER ...........Crown Princess Horizon court Self serve but with drinks service .

( again Very relaxed at a pace that suits us but with great views with the floor to ceiling windows )

SUPPER ........ Thomson Destiny Lido Self serve .

(What better way to sober up with all that cold fresh air and a tasty curry )

DRINKS ......... Thomson Destiny Sky Bar

SHOWS .......... The Can-Can on the Destiny put on some great west end style shows and plays .

THEATRE ......... I'm torn between the Thomson Dream and the Crown Princess ...two good show bars so its a draw !

STAFF ............ All Thomson cruise staff are brill and would take some beating .

So what would your choices be ?? :)

breakfast, a home made (from the breakfast buffet) sloppy joe....2 fried eggs with ketchup in a bread roll...lovely (and a great hangover cure)

lunch....a couple rookwurst (a kind of hot dog thing but nicer) with a little pot of mustard to dip it in and an ice cold bottle of amstel at my favorite beach bar on mambo beach curacau

dinner...gotta be the roast with yorkshires (gala night)

shows…sorry don’t really do the shows …. best evening entertainment....breaking even in the casino…or…crying into/enjoying a beer or 3 in the exchange bar p&o ventura

supper…the ultimate late night snack…deck 10 thomson dream….cheese & crackers

drinks, I’m with you on the destiny sky bar….oh destiny…why did they take you from us….so nowadays ….its the back of deck 8 (late night place to be) with a couple of martinis of the day and watching the breathtaking night sky over the wake of the ship

best time of day….sunrise on the sailin into tortola past virgin gorda (and all those other islands?) always beautiful:cool:

Great idea kalos :)

BREAKFAST - We liked the Majesty MDRs for breakfast, but I also liked the Princess (Crown and Sea) as they have islands all labelled up for different things, so no queueing (or not much)

LUNCH - Usually go to the buffet. Majesty was nice, we used to take our food down to the other bar.

DINNER - agree about the Crown Horizon Court. When we did the Round Britain Cruise we often went there for dinner - as you say lovely big windows and the sunsets were beautiful :)

SUPPER - ??? Surely you haven't got room for MORE food. OMG  I would never sleep if I ate again at that time. We tend to dine late, go to a show, maybe a nightcap and off to bed - boring I know :o

BARS - Although we didn't like IOTS the Observatory Bar (whatever they called it) was very nice and sometimes the ONLY place you could sit  Love those bars on all ships, especially the one on the Braemar.

SHOWS - Africa - seen it loads of times - love it :) Never seen a bad comedian - yet!!

THEATRE - Yes agree about the Crown and the Dream, although I think some obstructed views on the Dream.

STAFF - Thomson, Princess, Fred - all lovely

BEST SAIL IN - Got to be Venice with the sun coming up - stunning I shall never forget it

Breakfast: Sirens on the Dream

Lunch: Majesty MDR, a really good Fish and Cheese Sandwich, sounds disgusting but was very good.

Dinner, a close call between Orion on Dream (with Manny as Waiter) or Four Seasons on Majesty (Leo as Waiter), Majesty food was better.

Bar: Sky Bar on Destiny, No contest....

Staff: All Thomsons Staff are fantastic.

Show: Africa, best viewed from the balcony on the Celebration.

Showteam: last Summer on Majesty, they were something special.

CD: Gavin Carroll.

Sail in: 4:30am Geirangerfjord. Even if it was on a P&O ship....

Sail out: Got to be Geirangerfjord. With Stockholm a close second. (cheating again, this was on NCL)

Some of these it's almost picking one for the sake of it as often there's not much to choose between one and another but here goes!

Breakfast: enjoy Sirens for self - service but also Orion for service and choice. They've also got it right on toast too - fresh and still warm

Lunches: probably Cafe Borders on Aurora for ambience and interesting menu

Dinner definitely Aurora for quality and choice (on Thomson for food it would be Majesty)

Bar; Horizons Celebration/Spirit

Theatre: Dream

Show lounge: Destiny

Pool deck: (ignoring Aurora ) then Dream

Crew: any of Thomson ships

Show: again Africa but also loved the Bob Fosse show of a few years back (bits now appear in 'Dance')

Best CD: Steven Guy and Keef Maynard

Best sail in: well Venice is outstanding so gets my vote (hairs on the back of your neck job) but always remember watching the sun set over the stern sailing through the Stockholm Archipelago
