wine package confusion

I am trying to decide between the wine package with 5 bottles of wine or buying a bottle each evening off the list for our 4 nighter.

I am reading confusing things on different web sites.

I was under the impression that the 5 botles at 165.00 then add 15% gratuity.

But some places read

NEW Royal Caribbean wine package 2014

As of March 2013, there’s a new “Wine and Dine” Package called “Premium Platinum Package” - its cost depends on the number of bottles [below prices are with the 15% gratuity added]:

  • 5 bottles US$165
  • 7 bottles US$220
  • 10 bottles US$300
  • 12 bottles US$335

Does anyone know for sure which statement is correct.

Thanks

I think the info on wine packages is very confusing too! All I can tell you for sure is that we bought a 5 bottle package just prior to a Sept cruise, the price online was $165, and the charge was $189.75. So that would be $165 + 15%. Clearly the $165 did not include the gratuity.

BUT we are booked for a Panama Canal cruise on April 1, and in shopping for the wine package for this upcoming cruise, it appears that the prices now do include the 15%. Here's what I am seeing now on the order form on the RC website:

5 bottles 190.00 USD

7 bottles 250.00 USD

10 bottles 345.00 USD

12 bottles 385.00 USD

So now I'm guessing the above prices DO included the 15%.

I have pre-ordered a package, because it was supposedly cheaper that way. It wasn't.

Then I purchased one upon boarding, to find that the wine we prefer is cheaper to buy by the bottle.

No more packages for us. Just buy as we go.:)

It's been a few years since we cruised on RCCL. Back then, they had actual menus on line showing showing, Gold, Platinum and Sapphire (I think that was the name). Are those menus still available somewhere? If so, are they reasonably current? Would help to decide whether to order ahead or not.

Thanks for any assistance.
