bwellen Posted February 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2014 I couldn't find anywhere where this scenario has been asked. We have 4 people in our cabin for the 2/15 sailing of the Breeze. I would like to drop my wife and two young daughters (and all of our luggage) off at the Port of Miami early and then I would like to return our rental car to MIA and take the shuttle back to the port. If they have their passports and boarding documents with them I assume they will be able to go through the check in process without me. As long as I have my passport and boarding documents with me I should be ok going through check in process as well OR is their going to be some issue that we are not thinking of? Such as do we all have to check in and go through the process together? BTW, the FTTF was purchased under my name but that doesn't sound like that would be an issue since all of our boarding documents will have FTTF listed for each person. okgirl Posted February 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2014 If you drop them off before boarding begins, they will be able to check in and board as soon as boarding begins for FTTF. If you get back to the port after they have boarded, you will still check in at the FTTF area and be escorted to the front of the current zone that is boarding. If you get back to the port before they have boarded, you will still check in at the FTTF area and go to be seated with your family in the FTTF zone. The only problem I can foresee is if you are using a charge card to check in. Your wife will need it to check in, but so will you? You might consider setting up the family on a cash account, then you being set up with a CC, the changing all the charges to the CC when you get on board. bwellen Posted February 2, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks for the response. The credit card account we will use we both have cards for. The cards are identical except for our different names. Wonder if that would work ok?
cruisin pixxy Posted February 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2014 The last time I cruised in November, I'd already done the online check-in shortly after I'd booked and set up my sail and sign account at that time. They didn't even ask to see the credit card because it was already set up. Have a great cruise!
crusinpsychRN Posted February 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Isn't there a more convenient place to drop the rental car near the port?

bwellen Posted February 3, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Why cant they wait for you??? Instead of them sitting around on a bench outside for how ever long it takes for me to get back to the port we figured it would be nicer if they could at least get through most of the process while I am gone. Ideally I would like to be back at the port before FTTF boarding starts but you just never know how long returning the car and getting a shuttle back may take. Seems like it usually takes longer than you think it will.
bwellen Posted February 3, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Isn't there a more convenient place to drop the rental car near the port? Not really. There are no rental agencies at the port. I think there might be a couple locations that are closer to the port physically but it sounds like the quickest and easiest way is to go through the MIA airport locations. RWolver672 Posted February 3, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 3, 2014 You can do it with no problems. Just make sure you have separate boarding passes instead of all on one.
Mysticks1 Posted February 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2014 You can do it with no problems. Just make sure you have separate boarding passes instead of all on one. Yes, when you go to print your boarding passes you will be asked if you want it all in one or if you want individual ones. Just choose the individual ones and all of you will have the information you need to board. Just make sure you have your passport or birth certificate and that boarding pass with you. I know I usually carry all of ours together and could see that happening if your family usually does the same.
bar1068 Posted February 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Just be sure everyone in your entourage has their own pre-printed boarding pass in his or her's very own legal name..and that pass should have Priority/FTTF boldly displayed on it, so they will be good to go before or after your arrival back to the port. bwellen Posted April 2, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Just thought I would update on how everything went regarding this question I asked way back in February. I dropped my family off at the Port and the FTTF worked great for them as they had no lines during the check in process and only had to wait about 15 minutes for boarding to start and then they were on the ship very quickly. I returned the rental car to MIA and took the shuttle back to the port. I arrived back at the port about Noon and there were people everywhere. But using FTTF to get through everything was amazing. I never once had to wait in line for any step of the boarding process and the time it took from when I got off the shuttle bus to when I stepped on the ship was less than 10 minutes!!!!! It might have even been closer to 5 minutes and I wished I would have timed it now. Somebody in the thread earlier asked why my family just wouldn't wait for me to get back to board the ship together? Well, in the time while I was gone my family was able to check in, board the ship, go to the room and drop off carryons and look the room over, eat lunch, check out Camp Carnival, and explored about half of the ship before I even stepped on board. So we were all really happy with our FTTF purchase. The only negative we had with FTTF was that the expedited luggage delivery did not work for us. Our bags did not arrive at our cabin until about 3:30 and lots of other cabins on our deck had luggage delivered before we got our "expedited" luggage. Oh well, wasn't a huge deal at all. ccruisequeen Posted April 2, 2014 #15 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Priority/FTTF baggage didn't work for us either. The first time, there was something suspicious in our baggage (a wrapped gift). The other time it was just plain late. Wish they'd get their stuff together on baggage delivery.
