My bonehead booking mistake !

So, we decide, hey, let's celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with a two week back to back! Nice!

I go looking for that contact info, who was that PVP that has been calling us? Remember his first name, but not last and cannot find contact info. Never had a PVP before, approaching 50 days at seas, it's time to get a PVP...That's OK, just call Carnival, they will know who he is.....

5 minutes later....NOT!! They have no idea with my VIFP # who this PVP is. OK, well transfer me to a PVP please.

30 seconds later, "hello this is ****** can I help you?" Yes, I say, are you a PVP, they reply, yes. Great, can you tell me who the PVP is that has been calling me? Nope. OK time to give up I guess on finding that guy, will work with this person.

Fast forward 4 days, I find out ***** is not a PVP, is really a CVS (cruise vacation specialist) and I won't be getting the services a PVP offers. I'm not happy.

2 hours later on the phone with Carnival, and getting no where, bang an email shows up from the PVP I was looking for.I call him, tell him what happened, and nothing he can do to get the booking transferred to him, but he will take care of this booking for me. I'm now feeling guilty and angry, how could this ****** miss-represent herself as a PVP when she is not? It's just wrong.

So, my lesson learned, keep track of these names and numbers, Carnival makes no record of your PVP on your account. At least now I have my PVP locked in. As for the CVS that lied to me, my email to Carnival with all the details is on the way, I hope karma shines upon her.

Personally, I just deal with the PVP I get on the phone when I call. I don't have any loyalty to one specific PVP. Some swear by using the same PVP, and that is fine. I used to use TA's but just found they were useless and had no idea about cruises or cruising--and these are TRAVEL professionals. I've got 90 days, or 14 cruises (the free cruise didn't count to the VIFP total, otherwise it would be 97 days).

A B2B for a special occasion is the way to go...now, I went on a seven day and booked a suite for my 40th birthday and a spa suite too, which was sweet!!!!

Its much easier to book it online yourself without a PVP.

Yep, it is. However, I've learned right here at CC that a PVP can be a valuable person to have on your side. Inside info, help if there is a problem or an ES price drop, etc. Heading into those years in life where we can see many more days at sea ahead. Good time to establish that "connection", or at least try it out to see if it's as good as some say.

I'm just curious what is the difference between a PVP and a CVP, and what benefits would there be? My PVP gave me a magnet with his number etc on it several years ago and luckily it was still stuck to the side of the fridge.

I'll let some of the more experienced people reply to this in greater detail. One of the simple things I understand and like is, instead of calling that dreaded Carnival 800 # for help, you just call the PVP and they will be happy to take care of whatever needs you may have with your booking. One contact, on your side, to me is better than a 1000 people just answering the 800 #.

Just a heads up. I had filled these out and sent them in myself in the past. But I see your point.

If you are in commissioned sales loyalty goes a long way, especially when trying to make a living.

I make it a point to deal with the person I started with as long as they provide good service.

As soon as we decide to book a cruise, we start a folder with the date, time, email, phone number, etc of the person we called to book it. Also on the inside of the folder is our To Do list leading up to leaving for the cruise: Passports, parking, hotel, cruise docs, borading pass, etc. All printed emails, all printed documents, even a spent gift card for the cabin light switch and the safe are in the folder. The folder goes in the back pack along with other carryon stuff. After the cruise, everything we have collected--mostly stuff for the scapbook--like Fun Times, receipts, etc., goes in the folder and the folder goes into a permanent place in a filing cabinet for future reference. These have come in handy, even years later, when a question arises (like, "who was that person we booked that cruise with?"). Are we too prepared? Probably, but...

I completely agree. We've had the same PVP for a number of years. He knows our likes and dislikes (no deck 6 cabins!), is very knowledgeable, and always follows up with us after a cruise.

Last month I called and asked who my PVP was. My previous PVP had left the company and the new one sent an email saying she was my new PVP. At the time I sent her a reply email and asked if she would send me her card. She never did.

Fast forward to this year and I wanted to book a cruise. Couldn't find her name so I called CCL and asked who my PVP was. You would have thought I was requesting the keys to the Carnival Treasure box. No one knew and there was no way I could get that info.

I finally got ahold of a supervisor and after having to get nasty she said she could call my PVP and ask if it was all right if I was given her name name. WTH?

If I hadn't had a FCC to use I would have called a competitor after 13 cruises. So they did finally inform my PVP I wanted to book a trip and I did get a call.

What a joke Carnival. I've never known of a company where sales persons name were classified information.
