1st Solo Cruise in 2 days....dining question

I was fortunate to win a good deal of $$ at Harrah's Casino the night after our Conquest cruise last April in New Orleans. I now get a bunch of free flights etc to New Orleans from them. I was able to use one tomorrow, Wednesday that coincided with a Thursday 4 day Elation cruise!

I usually cruise with my kids (hubby isn't a fan of cruising :( )...but they are in college and can't take off so it will be my FIRST SOLO CRUISE!!!!!

I am wondering if I may be able to get a table for two by myself in the MDR (I am not very comfortable with a big table of people that I won't know anyone).

I have YTD and would probably go right at 5:45pm....

Has anyone else done this.....or maybe I should just plan on the buffet... :(

Thanks in advance!!

I had YTD on the Freedom 4 years ago when I travelled solo, and requested a small table to myself (same reasons as you), and got one no problem. The wait staff was great, so I requested them every night after and had no problem there either, but I did always go between 5.45 and 6.15.

Enjoy your cruise! and your solo time.:)

Absolutely yes you can get a table for 2 in ATD. I have done this numerous times. Just tell the hostess when you arrive that you want a table by yourself. Unfortunately though, most of the small tables are so close together, you don't have much privacy or solitude to enjoy your dinner. That is true whether you are a party of 2 or solo.

Have a great solo cruise and congratulations on your good fortune at Harrah's NOLA.

Thanks! I prefer the MDR to the buffet and am happy to hear it can easily be done alone. I don' t mind being close to another table, just not sitting with :D

Everyone that hears I am going alone can't imagine why I would want to....but I can't think of a reason NOT to!!!! (And the fact that I just went out to get the mail and it is -6 degrees!!!!)

I am VERY excited and I love Cozumel so that is just a bonus :):)

To make sure you get a YTD two top , you should go about 20 minutes before the doors open or 15 to 20 minutes befire they close. I like to eat later after 9:00pm and I never had problems getting a two top. Also a two top usually speeds up the service since the waiters only have to take food orders from two people or one as a solo.

I was on Splendor as a solo last month and I went into the YTD dining room when the early lounge show was just finishing at about 9:15pm. Since it was later in the service the wait staff did move my dinner along but not too quickly. I would rather have dinner in about 35 to 40 minutes instead of 1 to 1 1/2 hours. That is one of the benefits of dining solo. You can eat quicker and get to the fun faster.
