Concierge on the Dream

We're looking into our first Disney cruise (we have sailed on RC and Carnival before). Can anyone tell me what exactly is included in the "Concierge Level" and is it worth it? We will be traveling with 3 of our children (10, 13, 15) for only a 3 night trip.

Also, we have to get a Family style cabin and were considering the balconies. Is one side of the ship better then the other? We were told to get port side but we're not sure.

We have been in concierge on the sister ship the fantasy.

There is a concierge lounge with three hosts and food from 7am to 10 pm with drinks and three hosts who book your ressies for you. There is breakfast from 7am lunch items from noon, and desserts at tea time the coffee and tea machine is fantastic...

The hosts make a fuss of kids often give them free arcade cards etc some kids smoothies,

You get a gift in room each day like cakes or fruit and a lithograph at the end if the cruise.

There is a private meet with a character one afternoon and you get on the ship first and have your own check in desk.

You can use shoreside concierge to book in advance at 150 days and do not need to book shore trips or palo or Remy online they do it including a converted cabana at castaway.

The hosts will help with any reasonable request you get the lowest Internet package for free.

Doesn't matter which side of the ship you are on but starboard often gets a great view of castaway cay,

A 3 night cruise is really 2 1/2 days. That's a lot of money for 2 1/2 days.

In addition to the above, you get to board the ship first. You will get all the reservations you want provided you communicate them to the shoreside concierge before the 120 day mark. You get extra toiletries (an aloe vera sun thing and a body wash) in addition to the shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap in the normal cabins. You will get your choice of dining rotation and will be seated alone unless you request otherwise. Your photos will be delivered to your room for you to evaluate and choose (no need to go to Shutters). You have a phone number to call for anything you need with an individual highly motivated to meet your needs. You can have a room service breakfast on the last morning (regular cabins have no room service that morning). You can remain in the cabin till 9 am on the last days--regular cabins need to vacate by 8.

Honestly, for a 3 night cruise....I'm not sure it is worth it. You'll be SO busy on the ship anyhow. But if you want the ultimate in pampering, this is it.

I know that a private sun deck is also included. Does it have any shaded area?

We are booked Concierge on Dream next fall and wondered if the hosts were any help with getting autographs for the little ones or if any of the characters showed up in the lounge. There are three regular dining rooms and four nights, do we get to pick which one we repeat?

No, you will receive your dining rotation at check in at the port. Your repeated MDR will be on Pirate Night. Each MDR will serve it's Signature menu, and Pirate night all MDRs serve the same (Pirate) menu.

No, you do not get to choose your repeat place to sit. You will have the signature menu for each restaurant and the pirate menu. Since you are in concierge, you can choose your rotation (if it matters), and that does directly control where you sit on pirate night.

There will be a character at the concierge reception. No, they don't normally visit the lounge outside of the reception time. If you want an item autographed, you can give it to the concierge (limit of 2 items per cabin). It will be returned to you signed as you have directed (princesses, all available characters, classic big 5/6, or whatever else you specify).

If by "help getting autographs," you mean an item signed--yes. If you mean do you get any priority in lines, no. But you do have the one character experience at the reception.

Of course you get to choose which dining room to repeat, and its quite simple. Well before the cruise is to begin, the Shore Concierge will begin to contact you as to all the possible preferences and requests that you might have for the ship. They wont necessarily mention the dining rotation, but you easily tell them your request based on the fourth night in a triple dining rotation. The pattern works like this, the dining room that begins your rotation will be your dining room on the fourth night.

Example on four night cruise with MDR rotation: (1)M, (2)D, (3)R, (4)M

Example on four night cruise with DRM rotation: (1)D, (2)R, (3)M, (4)D

Just figure out which dining room that you wish to repeat and begin your rotation with that same dining room.

Also, because of the popularity of Remy/Palos and the use of the buffet, not all diners are at their regular tables. Speak with the concierge staff on board the ship and they can move you around a bit if requested.

The additional cost of a family Concierge Level room can be $1K more than a Cat 4 room (same size) for a 3 night cruise. We have stayed in concierge level before and while nice, in my opinion it is not worth the extra cost. Also keep in mind that the rooms on deck 11 have partially enclosed balconies which you may or may not like - we were not crazy about them. I would definitely opt for deck 12.

.

These rotations were not our experience. On our 4 night cruises, nights 2 and 3 repeated, so it would be M, D, D, R NOT M,D,R,D. On 7 night cruises, MOST of the time, it went 1,2,3,1,2,3,1 but again, not always. The exact rotation is the one on the KTTW card.

Having sailed in concierge many times I fully agree with this and a previous answer was incorrect. You ask shoreside concierge for your rotation as concierge you will get it and they confirm it, and in that rotation you have chosen by default the one you repeat, subject to the dinner rotation schedule and if there was a MDR you repeat.
