leaveitallbehind Posted February 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) Upgrades are based on availability, and as most cruises sail at capacity, check in upgrades are rare. If a given sailing did have any upgrades, they typically would have been issued prior to check in. All you can do at check in is ask and if by some chance something is available and has a cost associated with it you would pay the difference at check in. The cost typically would be the difference you paid for your category and the most recent cost of the category that is available - it is not a set amount. And any available stateroom can be in any category. But the key take away with this should be that check in upgrades are rare and not commonplace. Paulxyz2004 Posted February 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2014 As it´s been said they sail full most of the time and I haven´t seen a Pier side upgrade for many many years. The place to ask for it used to be the Pier coordinator after check-in, but These days they mostly either take your Name down for maybe last Minute cancellations or tell you to ask onboard. Aksing onboard will again either tell you no right away or put your Name down. The results are most likely the same anyway - you will sail in the booked cabin;)
