in room safes?

Being a newbie to cruising, I was wondering where do you keep your valuables when you our out of your room?

In the safe. They're usually large enough to handle 2 iPads and then some if that gives you a point of reference. I think all the safes have keypads now as opposed to card swipes but if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Yes there are safes in the rooms. They are small but they are there.

In room safes - fit my iPad with case but would not likely fit a laptop unless it was a 10" netbook or less. Not too small, plenty of room for passports, cash, jewelry, etc.

 

Major electronic gear like our D90 camera, I felt completely fine leaving it in the room. I do not think the room stewards place any value in that type of stuff and they value their jobs much more.

FWIW:

I bring a lock for my suitcase, not just for cruises but for all trips. That way if I have stuff I want to secure that is too large for the safe, I have a place to store them.

Small on Allure and had to angle the iPad to make it fit.

I am not trying to be a smart a$$ but wouldn't that just make it easier to carry everything out?

Potentially, but would be hard for a maid, or in the case of a cruise, room steward to hide a suitcase to steal a laptop vs. hiding a laptop alone.
