Can I buy a wine package on Jade?

My DH and I will be sailing from Rome on 2 April this year. It will be our first cruise with NCL. Last year we sailed with RCI and were able to purchase a wine package where we paid a certain amount to purchase our choice of 7 bottles of wine. I've been searching NCL web site and here but cannot find anything about a wine package. Do we have to purchase individual bottles? Can we bring wine on board? Thanks for your help

Yes, there will be a wine package of some sort. Usually it's been reported that on most NCL ships it's Viva Vino and you can buy 6 or 8 bottles from three different price groups.

You can also bring your own wine, there is corkage fee of $15 for 750ml bottle (more for larger bottles, boxed wine is not allowed) no matter where the wine is opened/consumed.

AllieZona's list us spot on accurate from my memory based on our b2b on the Jade in January 2014.

The reds in the cheapest package were all acceptable to good, except for the Zin (which was so thin it tasted watered down. When we got home, I bought a bottle retail to see if we had just gotten a bad bottle on the ship, and the result was the same. Zen of Zins is lousy wine - and we're NOT wine snobs).

There is also a house wine not shown on menus. $5.95 per glass, $24 per bottle (+15%). The red was okay.

No comments on the white wines - rarely drink white.

Please do your research on these wines before boarding. In the same package, on my GEM last March, I found some reds to be good and some not so good. I found the Estancia Pinot Noir good. I bought the middle priced package.

Also, bring a wine carrier for that one bottle that you will transport from your cabin to your dining spot. It is a lot easier and safer than carrying it in your hand.

FYI- I am taking the April 23rd cruise from Civatecchia-that is the cruise port of Rome. I understand that there are some wine stores within walking distance of the ship and from reading some past cruise reviews, the Italian wines tasted a bit better than the ones sold in the vino package.
