SadmanCruiser Posted February 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Don't you just love Royal's IT department? Just been onto the UK site (first time in a while) and in the first search options, you cannot search for Transatlantic or repositioning cruises. When you go to the second search, still no Transatlantics, but the option for Galapagos and World cruises appears. If you search for 'world cruises', every cruise appears, if you search for 'Galapagos', a message says to call and 'our friendly staff might be able to help you find and book these cruises'. I believe that as the UK office closed I would now have to phone someone in Guatemala!

New search engine is a joke/labour intensive, before you could ptu in dates ship etc, now it goes thro every cruise until you weed it down to the one you want, not really user friendly(maybe trying to make us phone Guatemala), also does not have a check for over 55 cruises now, had a problem with website last wk, ended up talking to some guy in Guatemala after 35mins he put me thro to someone in UK who solved it straight away, guess thats what we have to expect now:(. It seems that signing onto your C&A account opens up the website a lot more.

Thanks for the heads up on that! Of course new UK cruisers to RCCL won't benefit from this knowledge....
Bobal Posted February 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I actually sent a message via their website to complain about the complete shambles that is the RC UK website. They said they'd pass the message on and IT would get back to me.......yeah right!!
C U Onboard Posted February 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I always use the Cruise Calendar search facility which still offers the functionality we are accustomed to  http://http://bookings.royalcaribbean.co.uk/findacruise/search/cruiseCalendar/home.do?cruiseCalType=cruiseCalTypeDest
Missus Makkem Posted February 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Had problems with the invoice for our next cruise and my SIL s too so guess what ...Guatemala here we go, they have not got a clue. RCI are going to make us either book onboard our use a high street TA or cruise specialist. I find this so sad as we have had such good service from using RCI direct in the UK. freedman Posted February 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I've had to call Guatemala twice. Once because an invoice was incorrect. The guy spoke excellent English but it still took 10 minutes to explain the problem. I got a new invoice 48 hours later which was still wrong. I also called to make a booking using a next cruise decide later open booking. No word of a lie it took over an hour to make a reservation & the price was £30 higher than it should have been. Waiting for a new invoice and dreading calling back. For a big ticket item such as a cruise there is no excuse for such a pathetic service. Lets hope I'm in the minority. Spurschick Posted February 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Hi all I live in USA but born in uk where my parents still live. If it is any help go to the USA official website and go to contact us page. There is now a USA number for international guests. Hopefully this may prove to be more useful over time than calling Guatemala!

Missus Makkem Posted February 25, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Use this in office hours 01932 834200 Thank you Jason but we manage RCI very well but do like to help others out where we can as I am sure you do. Some of the info on the previous site you gave us have not been operational since Jan of this year as most of the RCI has gone to Guatemala for the UK market. We will in future be booking onboard or looking for a travel agent. The whole thing is becoming very conveluted and time consuming. Heaven help us when the Anthem arrives here. lancashire_cruisers Posted February 25, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Use this in office hours 01932 834200 This is the number I used a couple of weeks ago to book Allure out of Barcelona. I think it may have been Jason who gave me the number. The whole process was very quick and straightforward and the lady had no trouble in understanding me and vice versa. The previous week I booked a cruise on Indy using the number on the RCI website and had real issues with the service from the Guatemalan team. One guy even hung up on me before I could give him the date of the cruise I was interested in! Debbie :)
Clagmeister Posted February 25, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 25, 2014 There are certainly hiccups surfacing. I contacted my PCS located in the UK over the weekend to see if RCCL would offer any OBC on my up coming cruise. I did get a new invoice this morning removing all my CAS Diamond discount adding £220 to the final invoice. A remedy is in hand :)

Spurschick Posted February 27, 2014 #19 Share Posted February 27, 2014 As I am a newbie I checked with the administrators before I posted this as was unsure on policy for this and just got the okay from them:) (thank you admin) The international number for USA is +1 305 341 0204 There is also an email for overseas guests for reservations that can found on the USA sites contact us page (remember go straight to us site rather than try to get to the US site via the UK site. They are open Sundays too:D Email cheapest option, but my parents say calling USA not too expensive.
nomad098 Posted February 27, 2014 #20 Share Posted February 27, 2014 First time we booked with RCI booked through the UK office decided to change from IOTS to LOTS as a good deal came up on 2 JS even with the admin charges (£375) in middle of changing booking with call centre the room for 3 disappeared and I was told it had been held in Miami as their system had priority over the other systems anxious 2 days waiting to see if the room would be released in the Miami office luckily it was and RCI very kindly waived the admin charges This time another good deal on FOTS ( thanks to a cruisecritic member) we went straight to US site and booked there, had to phone the international number given to put kids in their own connecting room very easy would definitely book through RCI US rather than the UK Deposit refundable before final payment in the UK it would be a £750 non refundable deposit Room changes with no admin fees Upgrades and ship changes with no admin fees Better pricing in the US Loss of ABTA cover but paying by credit card and £35 insurance covers that Damon
