It would depend on whether you have been to Key West before or not. Just walking around the town and seeing some of the great old houses and buildings could be done during the cooler morning hours. I'm not sure what time places like the Hemmingway house or the lighthouse and lighthouse museum open but I suspect between 9 and 10 AM. Mel Fishers Maritime museum and the Truman annex museum are a couple of other options. As far as liquid refreshments go, many bars in Key West are open 24 hours so you can quench your thirst at some of them as early as you like. Another option would be an early morning walk to the Southmost Point for some pictures.

Here are a couple of links to Key West that have a variety of information on them that might help you find something to do.

Hope this helps.

Have a GREAT next cruise.

How about the trolley or conch train...do they operate on an earlier schedule for the cruise ships or do they adhere to their scheduled times (I believe 9 or 9:30)?

If you purchase conch train or trolley tickets thru the ship's excursion opportunity, you may get a time prior to the public opening time of 9 AM. We were on the June 11 sailing of Grandeur & chose to do this on our own so we got on at 9 AM, but those on an excursion were already on their way. One thing to note, however, is that with the conch train, you cannont get off/on at any stop whether booking thru the ship or on your own. With the ship's excursion for the trolley, you cannot get off/on, but if you use the trolley on your own, you can get off/on at any of their stops all day.
I found a scuba / snorkle trip that goes from about 8:00-noon.
On what websit did you find scuba/snnorkel from 8:00 am to 12:00? I will be in the keys on Sept 13 cruise on the Enchantment of the Sea. I will be traveling with 2 teenagers and trying to find something for them to do that they can enjoy.

Thanks

My scuba / snorkle trip left at 9:15 and got back about 1. It is about a 5-10 min walk from the pier. The website I booked through is http://www.discountkeywest.com/ The actual comany that runs the excursion is captains corner. You may be able to find a website for them and skip the middleman.

Badgirl...I am also sailing on the Enchantment...you should check out our thread on the meet and mingle boards. Since the cruise isn't long enough for an official meet and mingle, we are trying to get something together on our own. Would love to have ya.
