Dajbman22 Posted February 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Whats the dress code for RCI? Does a sport jacket have to have a tie? On a regular night, a sport jacket isn't even necessary. On formal night, depending on the itinerary usually half or 3/4 of the men will at least have a sport jacket, but it's still not required. Tie is optional, and up to your discretion as well. On formal night you'll see a lot of ties, though. This is all for the MDR. Around the rest of the ship, no jacket, no problem. Seeing that you've recently been on NCL... on NCL it's "Dress Up if You Like" and RCI it is "suggested formal" for the main dining room. It's slightly more stern wording from RCI, but in practice, it's still optional. I would say overall RCI has more participation on formal nights than NCL, though... I think in large part due to that wording. Edited February 25, 2014 by Dajbman22 Comparison to NCL added.
cb at sea Posted February 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Casual/smart casual is collared shirt and long pants for men. For women, capris, sundress, slacks, skirt, etc....is fine. Shorts are fine everywhere for breakfast and lunch. Edited February 25, 2014 by cb at sea

Rare missync Posted February 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Tie is absolutely NOT required...but that doesn't mean anything on the ships. I've seen people in jean shorts and t-shirts in the dining rooms on formal night. I have never seen anyone turned away because of dress code with the except of forcing a gentleman to put ON a shirt. I recommend doing business casual for most nights and then dress pants/jacket minimum for the formal nights but that's just me. I use cruises as an excuse to do things I wouldn't normally do so I wear a dress every night to dinner but I don't expect everyone to go that far
Ghengis Klown Posted February 25, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Thank you all very much.. totally answered my questions.. to be honest this was asked for by a friend going on a RCI cruise (y they don't sign up here is beyond me). Personally I have no problem dressing up, it's not like you have to wear it all day long. So thanks again CC community, you've never steered me wrong
