Gas stations near port

We have a car reserved from Coastal and plan to drive counterclockwise around the island. The car is supposed to be dropped off with a full tank. Any gas stations near the port? And just so I don't get ripped off, does anyone know a quick way to convert the cost of gas to US

There is a Sol gas station down the street from the port. It is reputable.

 

To convert, the price is by litre, divide that by 1.8 and that will give you the price of each litre In US dollars .

Counterclockwise around the island means that you will be dealing with the drawbridge between the airport and Phillipsburg and then with the afternoon traffic to, and through, Phillipsburg on your way to the port. A clockwise route would have you coming down the much less crowded east side of the island in the afternoon. If there is any way you could plan that, you would give yourself a much easier time. There is a gas station on the right on Sucker Garden Road just north of Phillipsburg.

We've been to St Maarten/Martin numerous times. Our plan is to spend a little time at the beach in the morning, have lunch in Grand Case, maybe stop in Marigot for a short time and skip the drive around the lagoon and the bridges.

As one said above, there is a station right before you get back to port. (Try to remember to notice it when you leave port on way out). It's a pretty small station.
