Final payment to NCL due 85 days before sailing? Does this seem right?

I booked my NCL cruise last September through a travel agent. I put a deposit down and my final payment is due Feb 27 - 85 days before the sailing date. This just seems like an odd number to me. I know some resorts require final payment 90 days before arrival, or 60 days, or 45 days - but 85? Just wanted to double check with the experts!

It's very common for travel agencies to require final payment in advance of the cruise line's due date. This provides time for problems (such as credit card rejections) to be resolved in time to meet the cruise line's due date. That way your trip won't be cancelled by the cruise line for nonpayment if there's an issue.

The above quotes cancellation fees, but not the number of days they must pay their final payment.

Some lines base their final payment date on the length of cruise, the type of cabin booked or the time of year your cruise sails. Sometimes, they have final payment date if you cruise in a suite or during a holiday. I've had to make final payment anywhere from 70 to 90 days, so I don't think your 85 days is unusual. Also, your travel agent may add on a few days in order for her to get the payment from you and then get the payment to NCL.
