sminfiddle Posted March 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2014 LaKing's old-fashioned candy store and soda fountain is so close to the cruise port that it's almost a must-do, like after the cruise. Mario's is a good Italian family-run restaurant that we've been going to for decades. ~sent using Cruise Critic app~
Galveston Cruiser Posted March 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2014 There are two Mario's, 61st and on Seawall. We prefer Seawall because of Gulf view. Both are good.

GORDONCHICK Posted March 18, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 18, 2014 We usually hit Benno's at least once (Mmmmm, peppered shrimp!). We've found Gaido's overpriced and not consistent, so we've stopped going. The Spot is a great place for lunch, even a to go order to enjoy on the beach when the weather warrants. This by agreement with RCCL for larger ship Liberty arrival. Third terminal is being studied how and where and for what ship line? Money is being spent presently on both. They are both happening. Sharonlee912 Posted March 21, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 21, 2014 We love Fisherman's Wharf right in front of the cruise ships. You can eat outside and usually Tillman Fertita's yacht is docked there. (He owns the Landry's Restaurants.) You can also see the Elissa docked outside. Bubba Gumps (on Pleasure Pier - 25th Street at the Seawall) has good food and parking is across the street at Fishtale's. I love Fishtale's. Have your parking ticket validated at Bubba's or Fishtales. Murdoch's Shell Shop is a quick walk away for good souvenirs after you eat! Have fun and enjoy your time in Galveston! Jimnbigd Posted April 1, 2014 #17 Share Posted April 1, 2014 I know it is way past the OP's Galveston date, but I'll add this in case others are looking for Galveston restaurants... wolfganghowell Posted April 2, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Another vote for The Spot, Gaidos and Original Mexican. Fish Tales - bleh. (sorry) This is reminding me how much I've missed Galveston the last few years!

dolphinsun Posted April 12, 2014 #21 Share Posted April 12, 2014 Try a place called the spot or Marios. The Spot has great sandwiches.
Galveston Cruiser Posted April 12, 2014 #22 Share Posted April 12, 2014 There are two Mario's, 61st and on Seawall Blvd. Both are good, Seawall location has a great view of the Gulf. The Spot has numerous venues on the sight. Rum Shack, upstairs, has a great happy hour (4-7) with appetizers at half price off the menu.
J_Viggy Posted April 15, 2014 #23 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Anyone have any breakfast suggestions? We are staying at Harbor House and I'm looking for something we can walk to. I know they have a continental type breakfast included, but hubby prefers eggs/bacon/sausage. Any spot we can walk to for that before boarding?
