Pesos or dollars?

Going to the Mexican riviera, would it be easier and better to bring pesos or dollars? I have brought dollars before but think it might be better to take pesos this time? What have you all experienced?

I have always done dollars, never had a problem with dollars.

We took both on our MR cruise. I think it all depends on what you plan to do. If you are sticking to touristy areas, then your U.S. dollars are fine. If you plan to be off the beaten track or in areas that may not accept U.S. as easily then take some pesos.

I have been to Cabo, Acapulco, Huatulco, Coz and Costa Maya and I have never found a situation where local vendors did not gladly accept my USD.

When I cruised to Puerto Vallarta, the vendors all preferred US $. I had purchased some Pesos and tried to pay a few times with them, but the vendors all said no, US.

 

If I were to go back I wouldn't bother with Pesos.

Use dollars .... they need to be clean (no writing on them) with no rips or tears.

Definitely use U.S. dollars - you'll find you get much better deals bargaining when you are paying with dollars. Just make sure you understand the current exchange rates!

Most people in all parts of Mexico prefer US dollars anyway. You have nothing to worry about with US currency.
