Atlantis wandering around??

Unless your getting a property pass I wouldn't waste the time to cab over. We didn't even get into the casino, I saw enough at the entrenched when we first drove up and used rest room during a drive tour. I wouldn't even waste the cab time or toll on the bridge for what we saw. I would have stayed near the downtown area and beach time instead. The riding tour was otherwise really great.

We were there Thursday. Took a cab $4 each way to Atlantis and just walked around the grounds. It is very pretty. They have staff who stop you from getting into areas for "guests" only. We walked around the Atlantis marina and admired all the beautiful yachts and the little shops. It was kind of overcast, so I was glad I didn't pay for any beaches!!

The area you described is not on the WITHIN the Atlantis Property.

The Marina Village and Atlantis marina are public.. outside and adjacent to the main property.

But you can't just wander around the lobbies, grounds, gardens, pathways, pools, beaches, lagoons and waterpark without some type of pass.

Really? We have always just used a cab since I've read the ferries seem dangerous, and don't go until they are filled. I've never heard them described as pleasant.

I personally love the ferries. They run from 9am - 6pm.

They run every 30 minutes - each captain get's 30 minutes to board as many guest as he can to his capacity during that time. So if you are first on the boat, you can wait up to 30 minutes for departure.

Yes, they seem filled most of the time, but I have taken them later in the day when there are just a handful of people onboard.

I love being on the water. The views from the boat, and the fun "tour" that comes with it.

By grounds, I meant that we walked through the building (with all the shops) that led us to the casino area. Beautiful chandeliers and sculptures. Took a picture in that GIANT Atlantis chair. We were able to walk outdoors and get some beautiful pictures of the buildings and view some of the beach area, like the building with the big seashells on the roof! There was a pizza place that smelled wonderful! I know the marina area was not IN Atlantis, but I wanted them to know that it was a nice place to "wander" around and sightsee!

Please check how many ships will be in port that day. We just visited Atlantis again this Wednesday and it was very crowded. Aside from our Breakaway there were Carnivals Magic, Splendor, Pride and Disney Wonder in port!

We have that same scenario on our port day there. Carnival Conquest, Fantasy, Disney Dream and Allure of the Seas. Will be a busy place on April 28th. We're docked from 7am until 2pm so a short day to sight see.

Security policy has changed in the last year or so. You can no longer even get into the front door without a pass.. unless you are heading to the casino.

Some have said they have gotten thru, but it's not the policy .. or the norm.
