Transatlantic-How cold?

 Share

Recommended Posts

My first TA sailing from New Orleans to Barcelona end of April.

How cold could it be at sea once we get into the Atlantic?

Not too worried about the first few days as we will be in the Gulf and Caribbean. After that not sure what to expect.

Any help is appreciated!

We sailed from Miami to Barcelona in April, 2012.

There were some days that were quite cold.

I took a cotton turtleneck, sweatshirt, fleece jacket, and wool cap.

When it was cold, I used all of the layers, otherwise, just one or two.

I also found it to be somewhat chilly inside of the ship. We were on the Liberty of the Seas.

It was a fantastic cruise, you are going to have a wonderful time!!

My wife & I took the same cruise at the same time of year 2 years ago. When we left Fort Lauderdale the temperature was in the mid to high 70's. By the time we got to Spain it was mid to high 60's. Where I come from mid 60's in April would be considered warm. If my American geography is right you may not consider that temperature all that warm. I guess it's all relative. I can tell you we loved the trip & found walking around the cities in Spain very comfortable at that time of year. Didn't spend much time in the pool though!

Thanks all!

High 60's is good. It will probably be high 70's to 80 when we leave NOLA.

Guess I need to pack a few more longer pants and less capri's than I had planned.

Anxiously awaiting the cruise.

Last April we took the Equinox TA from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona in April '13. On the seas days we wore tees, shorts, capris, lightweight button shirts. The weather was really pleasant and sunny. The pool deck was packed every day with sun bathers. I guess we got lucky, or maybe this was normal, and the poster who was chilly was the unlucky one! Either way you should probably pack clothing that you can layer--you know, strip off if it's mild and add to if it's not. Have fun on your TA! I think everyone who loves cruising should have the experience of a TA at least once in their lives.
