Port canaveral on explorer

I'm trying to find a nice beach to go to where the explorer would dock in port canaveral, last year when I was there on enchantment I went to what I think was called jetty beach it was like a camp ground in walking distance. Does anyone know if people from the ship are still aloud to go there? And also is there anything else cool to do there close to the ship? I'm into light shopping, swimming and bars not the space center, any suggestions are appreciated thanks

We stay at the four points in Cocoa Beach for several weeks every winter. Every day that a ship is in port, there are shuttles that run from the port to the beach and also to the four points that is next door to Ron Jon's Surf shop. There are quite a few stores within walking distance, the beach is a block away, and the shuttles are frequent. There is also a shuttle to "The Cove" which has several restaurants, an open air market and also a visitors center that is pretty neat.

Is there plenty of taxis to get you there?

Jetty Park is the closest beach to the ships. The beach is quite nice. There is also another one a little farther down called Cherry Down.
