Serenity is amazing especially as its near the buffet and aft.

The ship never felt overcrowded and there was hardly any lines.

The MDR is a little gaudy but well spaced.

The enchanted forest walkway is a good spot for relaxing with books etc.

Be careful with the forward pool as it was full of smokers.

Not tried the new RF pub or green thunder slide but looks amazing.

The firebird comedy lounge fills up fast so get there quick.

If you adore hot tubs without being squashed the gym one is great.

Taste bar is by Dreamteam bar

Im happy to answer any questions...esp about 4k cabins lol.

I was on Legend 3 years ago so my info is too old. I'll be on her again on 6APR so I'll know then. Lol. I will say that if you want a clamshell in the serenity area you better get out there super early and be prepared to stay

I've been on the Legend several times and LOVE the ship. I agree with the OP, the Enchanted Forest is a great place to read, or just stare out the window at the ocean. It's a very comfortable ship, and I never felt crowded. I had regular balconies on the Legend, but have had extended balconies on other ships. They are wonderful!!! I hope you enjoy your cruise as much as I did. If you have specific questions, I can try to answer.:D

We have sailed the legend 6 times, most recently spend a 12 day on her in Europe this summer. It is my favorite class of ship with Carnival mainly due to the size. Big enough for all the amenities (and the best serenity area on all Carnival ships) and small enough that it is never crowded (except the comedy club). The Western itinerary is one of our favorites but make sure that you do a tour in Belize and get out of the port; it is a beautiful country inland and on the islands. I have spend many late afternoons reading on the couches on the serenity deck watching the sun set. The decorations are a little odd and in the atrium it looks like it is decorated with urns but that never bothered us. We had the extended balcony on deck 7 in Europe and there is plenty of room to stretch out and get some quiet time. Also the Steak House is probably one of the prettiest in the fleet with glass at the top...

Have a wonderful time!

We were on it in September for one of the last European trip and are scheduled for the trans Pacific trip to Polynesia and Australia in August we enjoyed the ship immensely. We did YTD and never had a long wait Our service was always good as was the quality of the food. The Lido buffet dining area always had tables available. At the back of the Lido dining room, there is a bar that is not very busy. The staff was efficient and friendly.

Because the cruise was to Northern Europe and had bad weather, there was little use of the pool area, so I can't report about that.

The fitness area was very nice. I understand that it was updated during dry dock. There is a hot tub in the fitness center. Hardly any one ever used it.

The seats in the theater all seemed to have pretty good views. We never had a problem finding some where to sit. It was more difficult to find a seat for the comedy shows.

Hope you have a great time on your cruise.

Legend is a fantastic ship! Been on her twice in the last year! CD Brent Mitchell is awful IMHO but the cruise staff makes up for it! Extended balconies on deck 7 are fabulous! Also, for a little quiet time take a stroll on the outdoor promenade on deck 3, it's absolutely brilliant!

please how did you like 4k cabin do you have pictures and which one did u have

We had 4k 4149 which is in between the lifeboats (all of the ones next to a slim rectangle instead of the oval shape are) and the view was fantastic.

They are the same layout and size as a balcony cabin and the french doors have railings the other side but u can open the door inwards for fresh air and sea breeze for an inside price! You cant step out of the french doors but you can use the bed to prop them open and sleep/chill in your room with the sea air.

They are in a good location to as they are mid ship and near dining rooms/atrium and show lounges.

Only negative I can think of is that very rarely there is a worker on the lifeboats (saw one once on our 12 day) so check your window before you strip lol.

Here is a thread with pics of rooms with views between lifeboats and more info and a video of one partially behind a lifeboat.

We did the Legend in 2012 and it is my favorite Carnival ship. It is very easy to navigate as every floor goes from stem to stern. No worries about walking up a flight to get around a dining room. The LIDO deck is nice with large covered areas (one side smoking, the other not).

Leaving out of Tampa is interesting, a lot like Baltimore I am told, in that you go under a bridge that you swear you will scrap the bottom of. It is pretty cool.

Coming back CAN be a nightmare as they have a lot of fog issues and delays in docking. It is a port that most on CC recommend not having an early flight from. The year we cruised, we did not dock until almost 10:30 am. It was a mechanical problem coupled with having to wait on an escort to get under the aforementioned bridge.

Yeah, the urns are a bit much. I think they took the Greek mythology theme to the extreme but it didn't really bother me since I was out on the deck most of the time. :)

Tami, have a wonderful time and make sure to save some drinks for the rest of us! LOL

  • 2 weeks later...

Just sailed the Legend March 16th-23rd. LOVED IT!!! The ship was sold out and it never seemed overcrowded at all. Never had a hard time finding a lounger. Had an extended balcony room on the Panorama Deck 8th floor...AMAZING! Much more room on the extended balcony than the others. We had no problem with noise above us like some commented on if you are on the 8th floor, but what we did have was SPECTACULAR balcony views. Loved being up that high. Green Thunder...AMAZING and the Waterworks area was enjoyed thoroughly by my son. Food in the dining room was awesome and our wait staff was THE BEST!!! Also, I emailed the Maitre'd the Tuesday before our cruise because we were waitlisted for early dining. He emailed us back and confirmed with us that we had a table for 4 in early dining. We would've had late dining because our cabin steward told us that is still what he had on his paperwork. They did have one midnight "Mexican" buffet on Lido. Spent St. Patty's Day drinking green beer in the Red Frog Pub. Hasbro the Game Show was meh. They seemed to be having lots of technical problems, you could tell it was new. Comedy shows were great. Didn't bother seeing Playlist Productions...I peeked in and it didn't seem like our type of thing. Never tried Bonsai Sushi there was too much food everywhere else and there were a couple "sushi type starters" in the MDR anyway a couple nights. I am putting together a cruise video I shot with my GoPro, but am still working on it. I will, however, have a short video hopefully ready within a day or two of the time we spent on the slides and at the pool area. I do have all the Legend Fun Times from the week, but honestly, it would take me forever to scan them in. If you have any specific questions about them I will look at them and answer the best I can though as time allows

Did you feel the view from the extended balcony to the water was impeded by the lifeboats below? I was afraid that would bother me so I booked a regular balcony for our June 8th cruise.

I have a review I never finished in my signature from November :D:D:D:D

Loved the Serenity area but it did fill up very quickly if you weren't there by 10 - very nice have the showers there but the water was so cold! Staff was very friendly.....but my bed was horrible! Someone mentioned on John Heald's page that I could have asked for an egg carton-something to put on the mattress to help soften it some so don't forget to ask if your bed is as rock hard as ours was. Loved the ship! Easy to navigate!

Darn it, guess I will have to finish my review now.......

Not at all. We were up so high that when we sat on our balcony all you saw was the ocean. The only way I was going to see the lifeboats was if I leaned against the railing and looked down. Don't get me wrong...the lifeboats are below you, but nothing that bothered our view. When you are on your balcony you are sitting and looking outward. There is clear Plexiglas and really you are looking through that. You don't even notice the lifeboats.

I attached a picture. It was taken with the gopro, but unfortunately had to resize for these message boards so it looks weird. The extra panel towards the front of the balcony is the length of the extension. Makes a big difference IMO. One of our chairs actually lounged back with plenty of room for the other two chairs, the table and my tripod.

Thanks for all the info, we are down to 12 days and can't wait any longer.... I can't wait to see your videos (post them here). Of course when I have a reliable source to ask questions to I can't think of any.

well maybe some...

-How often was green thunder open (average) did it seem like it was closed a lot due to winds etc...

-How was embarkation and debarkation?

-**Important** did they offer luggage express?

-Where was hasbro the game show, the main lounge or the one on the lower deck?

Thank you! :D

Green Thunder and Waterworks did not open for us until we were docked in Cozumel. We had very high winds and close to 14 ft. swells on the way there and it was VERY rocky. The ship was swaying every which way. That first seaday was the roughest of the entire cruise. The seaday on the way home the ship felt like it wasn't moving. Green Thunder and Waterworks were open everyday after that, but seemed to close right before the first dining time.

Embarkation and debarkation was a breeze. We did not have FTTF, but got it literally took us less than 20 minutes to get from drop off to stepping on the ship. We were told our cabin was ready when we checking in. When we got there the steward was just finishing up and offered for us to leave our carry-ons in the closet while he finished up. We did not use the express luggage (I'm assuming you mean when you put your luggage out at night) We rolled ours off ourselves and were off the ship by 9:45. Granted the line for that wrapped around multiple areas of the ship, but when it started moving, it moved fast. Remember, they want you off to get ready for the next group! So they don't waste any time. There was also a hold up at first due to some international people not meeting where they were supposed to in order to be cleared before the rest of us could leave.

Hasbro was in the main lounge on the main stage which is on the lower deck.
