It has recently come to my attention that the only credit cards that work in Tahiti and the islands are the ones with a chip attached to a Pin Nbr. Just like the ones in Europe, all my cc are dual, they have a chip and a magnetic bar requiring a signature. has anyone been to Tahiti and the islands recently that can give me some updated information. Thanks in advance, we leave April 13 to cross the Pacific and May 2 we land in Papeete for cruise part all on board the Wind Spirit.

We were in Tahiti in February and used our BAC travel visa, Capital One and Chase cards without any problem. No pin numbers on any of these cards. We picked up a few items in shops, a grocery store, hotel, air port and tour operator.

Be sure to tell the vendor that you want them to charge in X's and let your bank do the conversion.
