Devon Doll Posted March 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Firstly we were advised that the embarkation port was changed from Savona to Genoa. Then an e.mail from P & O advising that we would be charged 22% tax whilst in Italian territory, Todays missive advises that the luggage allowance is down to 20k. P & O have just not done their homework ....

P & O have just not done their homework .... 20Kg should be more than enough!. My case with contents for a 14 nighter usually checks in at about 16Kg and that is with a dinner suit in it etc etc. Just wear a lot of stuff at check-in and take it off once you are on the plane :D
asda Posted March 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Yes they do keep changing things. (I just wish they would upgrade us all) that would be a nice change lol
lake5298 Posted March 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Fly cruise is not a new thing for P&O. Aside from their regular Caribbean fly cruises, the Ocean Village operation in the Med was fly cruise throughout. It's pretty shabby that they couldn't get all their things together. The change of port is understandable - and no doubt an improvement. The VAT issue might have been a surprise to them - legislation has no doubt changed since the OV days - but changing baggage allowances? P&O have chartered the aircraft, so they should certainly have agreed baggage allowances at that point. They are busy dropping another PR clanger - on the tail of the one about pricing - and they should be savvy enough to know that if they sweeten each new announcement with a little bit of OBC they will gain dividends in happy, repeat passengers. This would be normal practice in the USA - but again we get poorer treatment in the UK, even from a company with a US parent. Come on, P&O. How about it? Why? the baggage allowance has been 20 kg for some time, and is entirely down to the carrier. If you look on the website it gives all the permitted weights. The tax thing was sorted with them going to Croatia and then they joined the EU and this thing with Italian tax seems to be new. I cannot find any reference to it at all on the web. So we do not know when it was implemented. Why should the company compensate for changes out of their control.. Essex Racer Posted March 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2014 These changes are not deal breakers and when P&O put the fly-cruise programme together they would of fully researched and communicated how it was at the time - 12 months since booking things will change.
