CasinoCruzGirl Posted March 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2014 Hi I tried the search but can't find what I'm looking for. About a week ago I read a post where there was a 3 bottle wine package you could buy once on board called the vino via or something like that. Anyone know the details of it? Price. Type of wine? Thanks

Cubechick Posted March 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2014 There is no $15 corkage fee right? Corkage is only for wine you bring onto the ship not for wine purchased on board.

garycarla Posted March 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) I am sure the corkage fee is added into the price..... Sent from my iPhone using Forums Sorry, this is wrong. As mentioned earlier, corkage fee is a fee for wine that is NOT purchased from NCL. Helps them recover lost profit. It is not for removing a cork. It is not for helping you open the bottle. It has nothing to do where you drink it. Well, it is just not. Edited March 23, 2014 by garycarla
Rare KeithJenner Posted March 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 23, 2014 I am sure the corkage fee is added into the price..... Sent from my iPhone using Forums I am absolutely sure it isn't. That's from experience having purchased the package multiple times. You are buying the wine from NCL. Why would they then charge corkage on top of that. Gratuities are a different matter. 15% is added to the cost. Perhaps you are getting confused with that.
sacooper34 Posted March 23, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 23, 2014 So the are just charging you triple the price of each bottle of wine? in the$88 package if you where to buy 4 bottles of any wine listed then add corkage fee it come out to the same price..... Rare KeithJenner Posted March 23, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 23, 2014 I've just noticed, you may have been saying that corkage is included in the package cost (added into the price). It isn't included in the cost because corkage isn't a factor when buying from NCL. You don't pay it in top of the price and it isn't included in the price. Corkage is only paid on wine you don't purchase from NCL, so it is neither added to the price or included in it. You just don't pay it at all. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Not sure how you got to that conclusion. Those bottles of wine cost around $25-$30 each. If you are saying they are charging more than your local store, you are right. You are on a ship in the middle of the ocean. It is still considerably cheaper than what you pay at a ball park or theatre at home.
JCJR Posted April 1, 2014 #16 Share Posted April 1, 2014 How do they deliver the bottles? All at once in your room or a voucher for Dinner?
Cropelf Posted April 1, 2014 #17 Share Posted April 1, 2014 You get little coupons, or vouchers. One for each bottle of wine selected. You can "redeem" them at any bar or in any restaurant. We bought a 6 bottle mid-level package. I noticed that the price per bottle was several dollars less than the listed price for individual bottles. One evening we decided to grab a bottle for the room. I asked at the bar if I could have it delivered or if I should take it with me. The bartender said that it would be much faster for me to grab it from him rather than waiting for room service. He gave me the number of glasses I needed and the bottle. Then it was back to the cabin for a toast! We selected a variety of wines, but found one we rather liked early on. It was no problem to swap out for additional bottles of the one we preferred. Rare Dorhead1230 Posted April 6, 2014 #18 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Hi, I am just wondering if anyone has purchased the Viva Vino package on a recent cruise? I can see that several of these replies are recent, but I am unsure about whether the posters purchased the package on a recent cruise, or in the more distant past. I saw it mentioned on another (older) thread (from last year perhaps) that the wine program had changed and passengers had to buy 10 bottles for a discounted price. Perhaps those were just bottles not included in the wine program? At any rate, I'd appreciate if someone could confirm that they have done the Viva Vino recently...thanks! Tutankhamen Posted April 6, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) Wife and I brought: 3 bottles of Casanova di Neri Brunello 2001. 1 bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2006. 1 bottle of Chateau Pontet-Canet 2008. All in our two carry on bags. Was ready and willing to pay the corkage fee. No one asked, so I never paid a fee. Cubechick Posted April 6, 2014 #20 Share Posted April 6, 2014 How do they deliver the bottles? All at once in your room or a voucher for Dinner? It depends. In September we purchased the wine package and received coupons. Everyone else we traveled with had all of their wine delivered to their cabins. I preferred the coupons.
