Balconies on the Serenade?

 Share

Recommended Posts

We are considering a small group cruise on the Serenade which will be our first cruise on RCL. The host has some cabins booked but the only balcony ones he has are category E3. Are these all on deck 7? I understand that some of these have obstructed views so I'd really like to be on deck 8 or above. It's early yet so I'm sure he could find us a cabin one category up. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I just returned from a sailing on SOS. We had a E3 cabin on deck 7. It was cabin 7014. It was forward but close to the forward elevators. We did not have any obstruction. In fact the balcony was so large we asked the room attendant to provide us with a lounge chair too. We only had a neighbor on one side and a wall on the other. It was quite nice :)

It didn't have one of the smaller balconies. It was mixed in with some D category balconies. One of those "hidden treasure" rooms. We could have fix 2 lounge chairs and 2 regular chairs and the table and still have had standing room. The balcony extended forward and was several feet longer than the balconies above us. Hope this helps

I know that you said your balcony was large and it sounds great but is there not some balconies that are smaller than the regular size ones?

What category are the aft balconies on the Serenade? Are they a lot more expensive than the regular ones?

The aft balconies will be either D1 or D2 category rooms depending on when the cruise is. They are classified as D2 right now but I believe the category changed to D1 for the 2015 itineraries. They're usually more expensive than the E categories, but I didn't think the difference was that bad.

We stayed in Cabin #1016 which has no overhead area that protects you from the rain and Sun. During the heat of the day we found it almost too hot to sit out on the balcony, and no cover whatsoever when it rains. But we loved it at times, and hated it others. The Southern Itinerary going to Grenada was fantastic! Swimming with the String Rays at St Johns was worth the cost.
