Dmgmd50 Posted March 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2014 We plan to eat in the MDR every night since we are a party of ten including four children. In that case, what dishes should I be sure I don't miss? And what items should I avoid? Also, is fruit ( like berries) offered for dessert?
She_Sells_Sea_Shells Posted March 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2014 We were on the Allure in July and also ate in the MDR every night. Everything we had was fantastic. There were many fruit-based deserts, but I don't remember seeing just plain fruit on the menu. If that's what you want though, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask. :)
papaflamingo Posted March 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Food is so subjective, one persons gourmet is another's ....well you get it. Personally I really like the Horseradish Crusted Salmon. I've had it on different ships and it has been quite good. Another is the Duck. Nice alternative. I always get the Mushroom in Puff Pastry appetizer, but you gotta like mushrooms. :) Roasted Garlic Soup, but you gotta like garlic. :) I'll always eat Escargot, but keep a roll to sop up the garlic butter. Did I say you gotta like garlic? :) I always get the soufflé. I just like them. Most everything is good, but those are my "just gotta haves." I love Key Lime Pie, but on Freedom last year they had a Key Lime Tart that I didn't particularly care for.

With 14 people in your group you should be able to try everything between all of you! Lol don't be afraid to order. That was the first night too, which kinda took some of the wind from the rest of the sails.. :D Tiger shrimp were excellent too. The downers for me were the pasta dishes (with the exception of seafood ravioli and the lasgana) tended to be pretty uninterestingly sauced. And yeah, you can usually get a fruit cup or something along those lines for dessert by asking.
cruisegirl1 Posted March 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Fruit is available every night, just ask the server. After a few nights they will likely bring it to you without asking. I've have cut melons or berries every night. I am not particular and ask the waiter to bring whichever he/she see first enjoy M
