2travelcats Posted March 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Hello — our cruise ship will stop in Barbados at the end of May. We would like to walk on the Richard Haynes Boardwalk in both directions, starting at the end closest to the Bridgetown cruise terminal. If we catch a taxi, where should we ask to be dropped off to start our walk? Thanks so much!
Aplmac Posted March 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) . Rockley Beach Hello — our cruise ship will stop in Barbados at the end of May. We would like to walk on the Richard Haynes Boardwalk in both directions, starting at the end closest to the Bridgetown cruise terminal. If we catch a taxi, where should we ask to be dropped off to start our walk? Ask to be dropped off at the band stand at Hasting Rocks. It's not at the Western end of the boardwalk but it's as close as you'll conveniently access it. From your position at the Band Stand (the boardwalk's hi point, btw) -and facing the water- South - you need to turn left -and you'll be heading East towards Rockley Beach which is a nice enough place to swim, eat lunch, etc. Rockley Beach Once you've had enough of the Rockley area you may re-trace your steps, back to the West, past the Band Stand and continue to the boardwalk's Western end where you might want to continue West along attractive Hastings Beach. If it's low tide, and lots of beach is available continuing on to the Hilton Hotel at Needham's Point is fairly easy. Barbados Hilton grounds From the Hilton you can see the Port and your ship as you look Northward, across the entire span of Carlisle Bay. From there on, you might want to taxi it back to the Port area because it'll be getting hot and sweaty but I don't know how enthusiastic you are or how much more weight you need to lose.. lol Big beach at Barbados Hilton . 2travelcats Posted March 28, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Thanks so much! We'll have to see how hot we get as we walk - might have to detour into the water to cool off!
