geocruiser Posted March 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) I am so happy that I am getting to go for lunch on Breakaway when it comes into Port Canaveral on 4/1. I have been on many cruises but never on NCL. I can't wait to go. I heard that it is a wonderful ship! Edited March 28, 2014 by geocruiser
theonlywaytogo Posted March 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2014 Hi, how can I arrange this? We are sailing on the breakaway and my inlaws live in Florida. We would love to have them come on for lunch. I am on hold with NCL for 30 min already. The website says people can't board??? Info appreciated! theonlywaytogo Posted March 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2014 Ok, just hung up with NCL. GEOCRUISER is going to be disappointed. NCL confirms the info on their website. No one is allowed to board for the day during a cruise. Homeland security rules, so there are no exceptions. The only time someone may board for a few hours is the embarkation day in it's home port and even then, you must be a travel agent, you get a tour and are escorted off. Oh well, it was worth asking. I will not be disappointed. I am going with my TA. and have a confirmed registration. Just look for a group boarding at 1:30. I have all so been on for lunch on Freedom of the Seas. And you don't have to be a TA. After lunch and tour you are free to go about the ship (FOS). And we were not escorted off. If your in-laws have a TA that they use, let then talk to the TA. If the TA is doing this lunch. Then maybe your in-laws could get the tour too. There is a cut of date to sign up because of Home land security. That makes sense then, since there are now passengers embarking to begin cruising at PC on some Breakaway cruises. It appears you are BOTH right! A great way to sell cruises. I didn't know that Break-a-way would be coming back to Port C. What a great ship to have come to this port.

There were threads on here recently though about how some passengers would begin their cruises there instead of in NYC. I don't recall the details though. I think they had to be non-USA passengers. I wish I could find that info... Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

I've done a few ship visits myself over the years, and have seen others do the same as well. There's no US Federal law or regulation that prohibits this. There are a lot of reasons why people may visit a ship for a day like this. TA's, invited guests, contractors, friends/family of crew, etc. If the OP says that he's one of the lucky invited few, there's no reason to believe otherwise.
