vetlag Posted April 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Hi, First time posting. Taking Oceania on June 28th out of Rome. We make a stop in Provence. In search of a tour that takes us bike riding in/through the lavender fields. Can anyone recommend a good way to do that? Tour company name? From what I'm reading, it may be a way to go from the port to the lavender fields. Being we're on a one day stop, we'd like to make the best of it. Any and all good suggestions much appreciated! Thanks!
Rare Hlitner Posted April 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2014 If the weather is normal you might be able to see some of the Lavender fields in the Luberon or even the Rhone Valley. But to get to these areas you are going to either need a rental car (and be willing to drive) or get yourself a private tour. Private tours in France can be very pricy, especially if you want a personal car/driver. You might want to post this on the Cruise Critic Roll Call for your cruise and see if you can find some others who might want to join you for a day. We cannot help you with a tour company since we never use tours in France. Hank
vetlag Posted April 2, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Thank you Hank! Yes, I guess I'm finding out it's a bit of a drive. I'm trying to locate a reputable tour guide. There will be 4 of us so maybe that will help. Since we'll only be there for 1 day, we did want to get in as much as we can. Thanks, again! tucsonchic Posted April 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2014 I know the name of a guide that a friend of mine used - her name is Sylvie di Cristo, and her website is www.frenchriveriaguides.net. She also recommended 2 other guides - Catherine d’Antuono at www.provence-travel.com and Marlène Boyer from Experience Provence http://www.experience-provence.fr/. I have no personal experience with these guides but hope the information might help.

mfanderso Posted April 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2014 We used Sylvie in 2008 and she was excellent. We tried to use her this year but a year in advance she was already booked. She recommended Catherine to us so we have booked her for this month.
